Title: From the Black Book

Blog Entry: Alright. Finally I have the guts to start posting stuff up here. I have two books. The red book, has a bunch of characters and creatures I have created in my own little world. The Black book, has the locations and descriptions of my world. The first city in my own little world is Griffen's Roost. I’ve named the world Entin. Hopefully with each description and character I reveal more of the world will come to life. Entin, Griffen’s Roost. A massive city that towers over the plains on the top of a tall plateu. Only way up or down is through magical elevators, flying ships and creatures, or other types of teleportation or skycraft. The city is headed by the council of mages. Both, mysterious and timeless at once. The council has been around since before the Roost became a bustling metropolis. Griffen’s Roost has a distinct caste system. The more wealth you maintain the higher you live above the streets. The Roost is a relatively new city compared to the rest of Entin. Only about a thousand years old compared to the endurance of the other cultures. The rarity of human settlements is startling but most are within reach of the Roost’s military. The council that runs the Roost consists of 12 members that have secluded themselves in tall spires scattered throughout the city. They make the decisions that run the city. Ever watchful of the world around them as well as the events of the city. Anything and everything is known to the council. The Roost has three main taverns. The Bloodaxe Inn, run by orcs, for orcs. Halflings beware. Next is the Prancing Prison Pony, for the fluffy, richer patrons of the city. A place where gnomes and halfings can safely go without torture from the orcs. The third is hard to find but easily remembered for it’s exotic brews and strange patrons. This tavern is only accessable by invitation. The patrons are often psionists or powerful mages. Some say the council meets there. However no one knows that to be completely true, but The Roaving Spirit would gladly take any powerful magics it can find. The city has districts that work out into caste and racial districts. 5 racial districts are the most prominant. Gnome/Goblin tinkerer district, heavily fortified against explosions. Orc Refugees mark a lower more working caste but make up enough of a prominant district. Humans make up the largest district that also covers the trade alleys and the merchant stalls. As well as the guard barracks. and the temples of Order. The Equess hold a district as well as the towers of the council. This race of supernatural and intelligent horses certainly seem the oldest race of the lands. The last district is small and held by Centaurs whom house the temples of Chaos. Only those trusted by the Equess know about a secret temple of the Crone. Holding specific rooms for her four seasonal aspects. Also with more written history then the human counterparts. Of all the races the Equess are known to be the oldest, followed by the Elves, Dwarves and Giants. Then come from the rubble of a giant city from long ago come the Orcs and the gods of Chaos. Soon traveling through natural portals in caves to the east of the Roost came the humans, bringing along goblin, halfling, and gnome counterparts. While the Dragons are rumored to come and go as they please. Every now and then one of the Halfbreeds can be seen in the Roost. Travelling here and there.
