Painted My Campaign Into a Corner Again
So, it has happened again. Once again I have bitten off more than I can chew, painted myself into a corner, put the cart before the horse and other assorted cliches. How did it happen? Impatience? Trying to grab my players? Trying to counter an unpredictible play schedule? Who knows. What has happened is that I seem to have put my players (and their characters) in a position that they may not have the means to get out of. The party averages about 6th level and has unleashed a great evil on their... Read More

Liquored Up Life (eps. 6) Into the cold depths of ...hell?
The cries of the towns wizard, Makoto, brought all of our heads up, it seems whatever world I'm in, these damn goblins are there too. The ones we saw were from a clan called the Frostfall clan, though there presence is known they are never seen closer then 5 leagues to this town apperently. Now they seem to be scouting out Coldcreek to gather the results of their animated scarecrow. This having failed, they decided to come in and finish the job themselves. Three blue skinned go... New Kobold Quarterly and Atomic Array!
I thought I'd give a shout out to Kobold Quarterly and Atomic Array, as I've got an article published (with companion free web content!) in this issue (#7! But you knew because you subscribe, right?) and Atomic Array will be reviewing it in their upcoming podcast. I've said it before, and it bears repeating, Kobold Quarterly really is the spiritual successor to Dragon. It's printed, it's 3.5/OGL (although there is a smattering of 4E material and it looks like they might have found to side... Read More

Finding Pathfinder
For anyone who doesn't know, I have been divorced from D&D for about 2 1/2 years, and since moving from the big city to Smallville about 10 months ago, I've had very little contact with the gaming community in general. So it came as a great surprise to me this past weekend to find that Paizo Publishing, formerly the home of Dungeon magazine and Dragon magazine, was building and distributing a new campaign world for D&D 3.5 called the Pathfinder RPG. Again in case you don't know about it,... Read More

Curmudgeonly Ramblings: Assembling a Campaign
As promised in my previous blog entry, this one deals with how I approach a campaign, design an adventure, and what my characteristic quirks are. We had our first session of our newest campaign this past Saturday (Recap to come later), so since I have campagin design fresh in my mind, let's jump in! When I start planning a campaign (and we're talking D&D here), I usually ask myself three questions: "What have I already done?" "What do my players like?" "How can I take th... Read More

12/29/08 The New Look
The new style, Celestial, has gone live! We hope you like it. If you preferred the old look you can go to your account page and set it as your default style. To do this scroll down your account page, look on the left hand side of your screen, and you will see a box called Themes. You can choose between the classic RPGBomb style or the fresh new Celestial look. We will be updating the themes list with more styles as time goes on, so keep an eye out!
Thank you and have a Happy New Year!,
