Dungeons, Caves, Sewers, its all the same. yes?
Alot of great games have closed encounters. It makes a nice simple flow, gets the characters into the scenario easier, players react easier, the answers to the puzzles seems easier. Dungeons are classic. You enter, you search for any given exit, find out whats beyond the exit, deal with any problems, repeat. When all possible exist are exhausted, you return to the previous room. Nice simple semi-linear, understandable layout.
Personally, I dont like when a dungeon is designed purely as... Read More

Tips for Adventurer Shopping
I've never been so good at allowing players free reign on the shopping list, and when it comes down to it, shopping for your character is such a labourous activity both for players and gamesmasters. My Main problem is that 'handing over the lists' is SOooo meta gaming, rule breaking, unrealistic, bullsh*t. I cant do it, I cant stand it, I dont like it. I wont allow it. If I walk into a shop, I have no clue which product is better than another, unless I'm a biochemist, or well versed, or have gath... The End of something bad, and the Start of Something Worse (part #3)
With delays, players on holidays and other small problems, the adventure can sometimes seem a little slow.. especially that we're playing only once a week, for only 2-3 hours. As a Catch-up, we played an extra session, leveled up characters, organised encumberance, and checked the goblins for treasure.
But, whe... Read More

The Starting of something Big part #2
Last week (posted today) The Group managed to Set a Smoking pile of Pine leaves in the Caves, Technically they also did some other things but I could not post it, lest they read this blog and figure out some of the adventure in between time.I guess thats part of the problem with the story line, In the movies, you can cut to the bad guy, what he's doing, whats going on, let the players understand the plot from the opposite side of the table, because as an audience, they dont have any ability to a... The Starting of something Big.. Part #1
Allowing players to formulate great big successful attack plans, can take a long time, and its hard to award experience for 'planning' an assult. Its also VERY important to have a clear understanding of what the foe would do under all given circumstances, Gamesmasters have to 'forget' what is going on, on the players side and know 'only' what the creatures know and understand. So, This week, I'll interject with some key points about the perspective of the enemy, which was unknown by the players... Read More

NEWS / ANNOUNCEMENTS

Where's the Dashboard?

Look to your left. The latest update to the account page frees up space by moving the dashboard to the left side. It still works the same, it's just slimmer and sexier. And for those of you that don't know it, you can collapse the dashboard by clicking on the header.
