[Shadowrun] Gods of Gaming, Grant Me More Time!
I wish the great gods of gaming would grant me more time in a day. You see, for the last year and a half, I've been setting all of the Shadowrun games I run in a city of my own creation. Well, not exactly my own creation. I was raised in a podunk little town here in Kansas called Chetopa. It had 1700 people in it and it was as boring as hell. I also spent a lot of time during my teenage years in the neighboring town, Oswego. It was only slightly larger and equally boring. So, I... Read More

Warhammer: Campaign Setup
Ok, so I've sent out a bunch of campaign ideas to the players: short, 1 paragraph or less summaries of what the campaign would be centered around - what the characters would actually DO. I've gotten responses from the players about which ones they each personally like best. In the meantime of course I kept on creating new ideas...One I'm partial to right now is the Strigany. Warhammer: Campaign Building
Ok. So, my last campaign, a White Wolf Mage game, imploded when I got the hint that my players wanted to play that new fangled 4e thing rather than Mage. Imagine that. Alright. I can deal. So now I'm busily at work trying to come up with a new campaign while another GM runs us through a 4e FR game. I think I've decided on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.(WFRP) My group definately has a fantasy genre bent so it's best to give them what they like. I'm toying wi... Read More

Curmudgeonly Ramblings: Assembling a Campaign
As promised in my previous blog entry, this one deals with how I approach a campaign, design an adventure, and what my characteristic quirks are. We had our first session of our newest campaign this past Saturday (Recap to come later), so since I have campagin design fresh in my mind, let's jump in! When I start planning a campaign (and we're talking D&D here), I usually ask myself three questions: "What have I already done?" "What do my players like?" "How can I take th... Read More

Curmudgeonly Ramblings: The New Campaign
With the summer down to its last third, it's time for our gaming group to reset. Having sort-of finished the Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign super-module, it's time to get back to our regular favorite, D&D (3.5 of course), in our favorite setting, Forgotten Realms. (speaking of Forgotten Realms, even though I already knew a bunch of stuff about what was happening with the Realms in 4.0, I decided "what the hell" and thumbed through a copy of the 4.0 Realms hardcover yesterday when I bo...
