Wake-up call from Indianapolis
It’s about 1pm last Sunday and I’m involved in my usual Sunday routine; sleeping off a massive hangover. My slumber is shattered by the high pitched ringing of the telephone, which I answer to find my friends Todd and Allison calling from GenCon. Me: Uhhh…Hello? Todd: Dude! Dude! It’s the last day of the con and like everything is half off! Can you recommend anything to get? Me: I’m doing what now? Allison: What are some games we should get!?! After a couple minu... Read More

One Week Later: More GenCon Musings
Okay so I’ve been really lazy. I got home from gencon and spent the first three days trying to catch up on my sleep and the next three days trying to get my house in order. Well I’m still tired and my house is still a mess, so I might as well tap this out before it fades from my memory… It’s sooo big. It’s TOO big. Too big to make a decision about where you want to go, what you want to do, and even what to eat. The costumes are varied and brilliant and... Read More

Belated GenCon o8 Blather
One of the things we like to do on the drive to gencon is mark the passing from Ohio to Indiana by coming up with funny items about the smallish arch, small if your used to the one in St. Louis. One year we decided that it was an ancient Mennonite fighting position. Of course these Amish-derivatives looked like the Amish-Meets-the Road Warrior. This year it was the fortification of a smallish band of angels that would loose their wings if they touched mortal soil, which we named the Ethereal. It... Read More

So that was GenCon
I'ts been over a week now, and I haven't posted anything about GenCon. It's just too big. Everytime I start to write something I get bogged down. There's so much to say. An event like this one generates lots of stories and I want to tell them all, but I just don't have the time. So it's time to compromise. I'll hit some highlights and hopefully expand on it all later. (yeah, right.) So what kind of cool stuff went down at GenCon? - Morton's List: An interesting idea, but my group kinda got a... GenCon Pt III: Cat calls and cat naps
CAT CALLS If you see me at the Con, stop and say hi! However, if all you can manage is a weak “meow” or growl, I’ll probably smile and keep walking. I know we’re gamers, which makes most of us not only dorky but also extremely shy. But folks, we’re at a gaming convention! We’re ALL dorks! Talk to your fellow dork. Whether at a gaming table, standing in one of those horrendous lines, or colliding with one another in the Dealer Room, smile and say h... Read More
