New Book, Thoughts on Promo, Ramblings

I have another PDF book coming out next month, and as I am finishing up editing it right now I am wondering if it would be a good idea to do a post a chapter a day type of thing on either my blog or perhaps here. On one hand I have a fear that if I do this, then no one would buy it, because they could just print out the blog pages. On the other hand I imagine it would give me a good amount of exposure, though would anyone buy the PDF when they could just as easily PDF the blog pages or print them out?

But then again, maybe I don't need anyone to buy it? The book is a more in-depth short story on one of the organizations within my world setting. It's 62 pages and only has cover art, though I am working with an artist who wants to create artwork for it and we'll release a limited edition illustrated version at ComicCon 09 next year at our booth.

At the same time all this goes on in my head I also remember that the price point for the PDF will be $2.00 so maybe if people did read it and like it, they would spend the $2 to support me anyway? Ok, probably not.

I appreciate sneak peeks because it comes right out of the gate and lets me know if I'll be interested right out of the gate. I don't have the kind of disposable income I once did to try stuff out sight unseen as it were.  Those post teen years when I could drop $25-$35 on a book that could be just another World of Synnibar are past so I tend to try to track down as much about a game in terms of reviews, company snippets, etc. that I can.

Giving away anything and hoping they may buy a copy later is always dicey. On the other hand if you posted a chapter a week to get them interested that could drive up interest. Maybe offer any readers a sign up on your blog so they get a shot at the full illustrated version at a discount when its done . That way you get feed back right away and can track who is reading it and how much interest is generated .
