Broadswords, Scimitars, and Katanas
by Myth

Our gaming group has detoured again from Marvel and is playing L5R again in earnest.  It's a fun campaign, and my new character is a member of the Tortoise clan.  We're the Emperor's personal smugglers and traders, which makes us both outcasts and practically untouchable. ;)  I play Kasuga Toro, Bushi to the Tortoise Clan and Yojimbo to the Ambassador from the Burning Sands.

Yep, that's right.  We have an ambassador in our group.  He's playing a member of the Burning Sands people, which are essentially outsiders and considered alien by the Rokugani.  The Rokugani consider them less then human in fact, due to the belief that they are not part of the Celestial Order.

So in our game of samurai and courtesans, we now have an Arabian sorceror accompanying us on our travels.  Two of our PCs died last game, and one of them is making another gaijin character taken from the Steppes.

I'm just amused by the circumstances.  One guy mentioned how he wanted to play a Roman character in our game, while another mentioned how much he was digging the Ebonite knights.  It makes me laugh a little as our group may very soon wield a combination of broadswords, scimitars, and katanas.

Any cross cultural parties show up in your groups?

Romans would be more likely to have a gladius, not a broadsword.

I have a similar party.

We have an elven sorceress and a dwarven ranger dropped into an alternate universe, teaming up with a samurai and a kappa-monk who rides on the samurai's back in a basket.

Yeah.
