Wow! It has been sometime since I've visited here and actually posted something. I thought this year was going to grant me lots of time to play around on the net and work on learning more about gaming, but ever since I got here, it's been running nonstop from class to class to club to room to class to auditions to class to bed so that I can repeat the process all over again. However, this is the last time that I'm going to be able to do this here at the academy, so I'm milking it for every penny that this place is stealing from me. That may have sounded a little harsh, but it's hard when you look at your bank account, see a number in there, and then sigh heavily because that number will soon be 0 and you will still be in debt.
I have to admit thought, there is nothing really to report in terms of gaming. We have had only one session, but I have been introduced to the world of "Magic: the Gathering" (stupid roommates, and have been reacquaintedwith my old love, video gaming. But with all these stupid classes, I have had little time to fully get into anything. No worry though. I just need to set a schedule and all will be fine.
I noticed something though as we were playing our first game here. We don't actually play with all the rules. No one has a battle mat, or minis, and most of the characters here are made by the DM, based on the story provided by the players in question. The game I did play here, we were a group of brothers off to acquire our uncle's will. The eldest brother a lvl. 6 rouge who had a weird fetish with salt, the middle a lvl. 5 rouge who couldn't make ends meet, and me, the lvl. 3 monk. Wanna talk about getting the shaft? First battle, I'm the one who does the most damage, and when I actually have the thing in a grapple and doing this damage, someone takes the creature from me, accidently frees it, and I'm the first to fall, even with an AC 17. My brothers, not a scratch. Well, all right, one of them lost a chunck of his neck, but that's not the point! The point is... well... we didn't really work with each other.
Things quickly fell to chaos though, and the night had to end before "Salty" drowned himself in a coffin filled with salt preserving a dead body. (Long story...)
So, that's the deal. I miss the gaming back home, but things are running smoothly here. I'm expecting things to pick up here soon, and my Githzerai monk to take over and show the world what I'm really capable of.
Stay tuned.
You're friendly Yellow Mage,
Mark
