I wish the great gods of gaming would grant me more time in a day. You see, for the last year and a half, I've been setting all of the Shadowrun games I run in a city of my own creation. Well, not exactly my own creation. I was raised in a podunk little town here in Kansas called Chetopa. It had 1700 people in it and it was as boring as hell. I also spent a lot of time during my teenage years in the neighboring town, Oswego. It was only slightly larger and equally boring.
So, I thought it would be fun to use these two towns as the basis for my games. The idea of making them happening places appealed to me somehow. Anyway, here's the quick summary:

Quote:
In 2021, multi-millionaire Maximillian Cahill purchased two towns in what was once southeast Kansas. Both Chetopa and Oswego had certainly seen better days (especially Chetopa) and were by that point barely even towns at all. He also secured all the land connecting the towns and a large mass of land east of Chetopa as well. He invested his fortunes in forging a new and prosperous city out of the shambles that these towns had become. He then founded a corporation called MaxiCorp and based it in his new city, Ostopa. MaxiCorp grew extremely fast, perplexing everyone in the business world. Few companies had come seemingly out of nowhere and became so prominent in such a short span of time. As with any city on the rise, other Corporations flocked to Ostopa, hoping to share in the wealth. To date, five corporations (not including MaxiCorp) have made Ostopa their headquarters.

The reason I wish for more time in a day is because I would love to write a netbook for the city of Ostopa. We've developed a pretty nifty setting and I plan to eventually take my two groups on an actual tour of Chetopa and Oswego, showing them exactly where all the locales are. They all seem excited about the prospect, since they're all in love with Ostopa and the folks who populate the shadows there. From Chauncey (the guy who owns an Ork blues bar) to Karl Hammer (an annoying lounge lizard type of guy who's a decent hacker), they have become like old friends.
Yeah, I know I'm hardly the first GM to set their campaign in their home town, but I have to say that I'm really proud of how the setting has shaped up. I'm looking forward to many more years of running the shadows there.
