Cartoon Action Hour: Season 2!!!
I swear I'm gonna go FREAK'N NUTS waiting for this new edition of a very cool game that came out a few years back. This new edition is very polished and I'm liking what I've seen in the demo so far. Check it out here. The best part that, I wish more game companies would adopt, is that the original supplements won't become over-sized beer coasters. There is a conversion section for those past-made supplements. I'll have to find my Metal Wars book. It is a great homespun storyline for running your own giant transforming robot campaign. There is also and supplement for running a special military task force desinged to take down a supernatural terrorist force threatening our freedom.
If I haven't mentioned it before I'm a HUGE fan of 80's retro toons like Masters of the Universe, Bravestar and M.A.S.K., and this game is designed to reflex those shows in RPG gaming style. I love the works of Filmation and Lou Scheimer. So I'm just buzzing around the house trying to keep myself busy till October when the PDF becomes available. The month after the hard copy hits the stores.

Darkforce,

What about the mechanic are you split on? Perhaps I can shed some light on it for you. :)

Laggy,

The Herculouds would be a snap with CAH:S2. Sure, that was a 1960s cartoon, but it's close enough in tone and content that it'll be perfect. I know of others who have run Speed Racer and Jonny Quest with CAH:S2... and those are '60s cartoons too.

Hi, CyborgTrucker.

I'm extremely happy that you like what you've seen of CAH:S2. I'm very proud of it and feel that it fixes all the things that started bugging me about the original version.

Thanks for checking out the promo material. You have read Chapter 5, right?

I bet it will do it well!

This is one of those games that can't be missed. It's something if you are a child of that 80's catroon syndicated show you will find something to chuckle at or say to yourself "Oh cool!"

I think one of the reasons I gravitate towards this game is its theme. I also grew up watching on saturdays shows like Shock Theater and Creature Feature. Which is why I love the game It came from the late, late, late show. There you again have to get into the logic of the game. Players won't earn xp and advance by being smart. The good players when they see their front door kicked in, blood splatters everywhere and the lights out go in to investigate without calling the cops first. It breaks from the norm of kick down dungeon door, kill monster take treasure*. Are in a world that break from logic and applies crazy new fun to gaming.

*I know there are plenty of great GMs out there running games that are more than Monty Hall hack-n-slash, but I do also have to acknowledge what I see played on the table of my LGS.

Then I suggest going the PDF route. It's cheaper and less of a dive into the deep end when trying something new.

It's funny. CAH inspires 80's cartoon gaming, but I am split on the mechanic. A good friend of mine playtested the original and got me into it. I might drop the money for it.
