Your First, Best, Worst.

Remember your notable Game Masters?

First:  My bro.  He was 12 years older than me, so he'd come home from college and run me and my friends.

Best:  A highschool history teacher of mine named Mr. Smalley.  Was absolutly terrific.

Worst:  A friend of mine in School who was a couple years older.  Even as a GM it was obvious that he was a power gamer / munchkin.

Hm... interesting question.

First: A friend of mine from back home. He was well into the whole system of DnD before I was, but I begged him to teach me how to play and run a campaign for us. He isn't exactly a story teller per say, meaning he doesn't really plan out the adventures, but he always made it fun for everyone.

Best: My roommate. Everything my first DM was not. He is a planner, and he makes sure there is 30 different story lines for at least 6 characters, at any given day, and he knows how to get into your head. He also knows pretty much any and every rule the game has, and will use that knowledge to twist the game to make it that more interesting. Careful when you play a game with a pysch major. They know how to truely F with your mind!

Worst: Well, I can't say that I have any worst, as all of the games I'e played in have been enjoyable. The only reason why someone would be put into this catagory is simply because they weren't the first or the best.

First: A guy named Paul....the older brother of a friend of mine named Bill, the latter who I've posted about before as being my "mentor" in all things geeky.

Best: My friend Kevin....as a drama major in college as well as being just really tough, he came up with great NPCs to interact with, threw harsh challenges at us, but was also scrupulously fair.

Worst: A guy named Joe. He was my second DM. He was a Munchkin Haul DM (part Munchkin, part Monty Haul).

First: My brother’s friend ran a game of AD&D 2nd edition for me and 6 of my friends when we were 12 yrs old. I had to have been the worst player that night but if he could only see me now!

Best:
My friend, James, started running Palladium Fantasy in High School. He ran several campaigns for us and always made exciting and fair.

Worst: I never campaigned with a bad GM but I have had game day and convention experiences I have been able to forget after much drinking and therapy.

First: At high school, and oddly enough RPGBomb member Blue Gnoll was the GM. He ran a great but short game of D6 Star Wars. I just caught back up with him at a local GW store nearly 17 years later. One of these days we are going to pit our 40K Warlord Titans against each other.

Best: Tom C  He ran some awesome Vampire 2nd ed campaigns, Wamphyri (homemade game based on the novels using WoD) campaigns and some truely inspired Aberrant campaigns. But we had an unfortunate schism and I haven't seen him in a few years.

Worst: Ivan (the annoying and technically the terrible) He turned the point build system for D6 Star Wars into a roll generation system. So after an hour of consulting his crappy charts my charater was finally done. He then killed it 5 minutes into the first session cause I rolled a 1 on the wild die while ramming an Imperial Probe droid with a land speeder. He then had the nerve to be surprised, offended and hurt when I got up to leave and refused to make a new character.

Now a days he runs Star Wars CMG tournaments against a bunch of 10 to 12 year olds. Surprisingly with his adult job(i.e. he has the money to get any figure he needs) he always manages to win his tournaments and take hom the best prizes. Yes he is that big a loser.
