4E D&D and other additions

Well after the better part of a year with the 4E what are you thoughts? Here are mine.

I am sure there are many blogs about this subject, but these are my thoughts and I would be interested in yours.

I spent about six months ready and playing this new addition and have to to the conclusion that is a grand new start. I played D&D in the late 70's through the mid-late 80's and then took a break until 2000, when I jumped back in full force. Maybe my thoughts are tainted by my lack of knowledge of 2nd ed. but I have truly grown to love and enjoy playing and most of all of all run 4E.

One thing that I truly enjoy about 4E is that it is based in the idea of true heroes and the “Points of Light” idea. This allows me to bring in all the old 1st. ed adventures that I have been holding on to for so long. The adventures that were designed for a campaign that was grounded in an ideal of “heroes”!

Is there anyone else out there that is taking old D&D adventures and converting them to 4E. I am finding it easier that expected.

You could almost use the plot from any of them and just change the configurations around. The hardest thing for me is adjusting the maps. I have pretty much recreated most maps. The older once are designed aroud the idea of one room one encounter so it is hard to take a cluster of rooms and turn them into a single incounter.

If you want Heroic, I recommend 7th Sea.
