Origins - Dealers Room

The origins Dealers room is on par with larger cons I've been to, like Connecticon and Anime Boston, many different and independant vendors come to hawk and demo their product for the masses. I visited the room about 4 times never commiting to a purchase until thinking it through a bit. Overall I've been told the room has shrunk with some vendors, important ones, electing not to come. I didn't see a WotC booth or a specific games workshop booth or even whitewolf. I don't know if they typically come to these shows, but I would have thought they'd make an appearence like Rio Grande/Bandai and Mayfair Games.

I saw many many minis, and I was living in a world that I thought reaper and GW were it for pewter minis, Nay Nay, there were plenting of smaller independant shops, one guy tells me 'Yeah my friend skulpts them and I cast them.' I'll give them proper attention next year when I have more disposable income.

Another thing that caught my eye, and I will be buying is these simple connectable 3-D walls and doors that sit on a magnetic marker-able mat. build a dungeon in seconds, or as you go...I forget the name right now, but thats why I got the flyer.

The Mayfair booth was exciting, I was Knighted and became a defender of Catan after collecting and haggling with friends (okay they gave them to me) ribbons of all the commedities I needed. We came away with an expansion for our Catan and a copy of Cities and Knights for Half off!

I also tried the new Catan geography variant in the booth, this is the German map and I've got to say I love the new ideas behind it, it's familiar but has a twist. I applaud Mayfair games and was glad to see two of my hotel roomates advance to the semis in the Catan Tournemant.

I couldn't give proper attention to every booth I was bargain hunting, picked up spycraft D20 at the 2 buck booth and some dice at Chessex. The dealers room was great overall, I felt bad for Peter Mayhew, Chewy in Starwars,  I thought he was stuck in a corner with no fanfaire celebrating his celebrity. I'd like to see guests get a little more press and some more events.

Since we're talking selling I want to say the auction looked good, I was a late arrival so I didn't bid on anything, but it was nice walking through that and the consignment store.
