The mountain dwarves of the western ranges are some of the most prolific miners of all the clans. They make their home in the mountains of the Pacific North west of the old United States. It is a region of mountains that range from the northern tip of California into Canada. They were known for centuries as the Cascade Range however in more recent times they have come to be called by their dwarven name, "Festning Fjell,†in human tongue Fortress Mountains. Gylden Kongerike is the southernmost region of the fortress mountains and is considered the gateway to the many lands beyond. Unlike the dwarves you know the ones here at the Golden Kingdom have built an above ground village and trading center inhabited by many arcane, dwarf, and humans side by side in a setting reminiscent of a medieval town studded with seeming anachronistic technology. Game Masters this is an excellent quest all on its own with its dangerous labyrinths, adventures into fairy infested forests, dangerous mountain passes, and lively town setting. Or it can be used as a resting place or starting spot for a much broader campaign as the village of Gylden Kongerike has every resource player characters might need to begin a new adventure. This little dwarf village is a great place for new characters to “cut their teeth†and gain a little treasure in the process.
This adventure supplement to APOCalypse 2500 is an excellent introduction to dwarven culture that is a bit different form the legends we all grew up with. While dwarf still mine the earth and live in its subterranean recesses they by no means are either reclusive or technologically unaware in this 26th century world of magic and High technology.
