Banelord - Khorne Warlord Titan Project - Part 0 EXTENDED
Where did I leave my brain?
I really need to start writing my entries in advance and then let them sit for a few days as all the things I forgot to put in them the first time come to me. So here's some more ideas I'm currently wrapping my head around as I start marking the wood for cutting. I've been studying the original model and have noticed some things that I've over looked before in the design phase.

A face only a Chaos Forge-Lord could love.

Firstly the head is giving me some indecision. My first idea is not going with the Bloodletter head and instead build it a helmeted Khorne Berserker style cockpit. To the right are some head ideas I'm toying with. I think the giant stylized horns would bulk up the torso and shoulder carapaces nicely. There is a cannon mounted in the head like the Deathstrike cannon from Epic. It comes out through the jaws. So the helmet design will need further tinkering.
On the other hand I need to stop avoiding trying new modeling projects just because they may be something difficult. The only way I can t
hink of building the head without over balancing the Titan is to carve it from pink insulation. I have an electric foam cutting wand. So for tools I'm more than set. Also the head would be rather large so it may be easier to carve than something smaller. Another reason to do is it would take my Titan building in a new level if I added rounded corners and a less boxy design to it.

HEY! Nice rack!
The Banelord is different from a standard Warlord with its single carapace weapon in the form of a Havoc Launcher rack. It sits between the two shoulders behind the cockpit. The six rockets on it are huge! I figure I will use a paper towel tube for the body and then pop over to my semi-helpful* model store Model Empire to pick up some balsa wood rocket nosecones. The fins I can fashion out of plasticard.

Whoa look at the junk in her trunk!
Lastly the Apocalypse version of the Banelord comes with a tail armed with a battle cannon at the end. This is a tip of the hat back to the early days of Epic when there were a bunch of different parts you could add to a Titan to give it more firepower, make it deadlier in close combat attacks or equip it with nifty special abilities. I especially like it cause Imperial lapdogs can't have one!!! Mu-ha ha ha ha!!!
My one idea I have to build the tail is to use lengths of coaxial cable bundled together using smaller gauges of wire to make a long snaking appendage. Also I may wrap it in some kind of rubber or flexible sheet that I can cut to look like layers of torn skin with the bundles poking through. I've drawn an example of what I have going on in my head above.

*The last time I was there I asked if I could put in for the paint order some things I needed. Not only could the guy in charge not tell me when he was next making a Testers order, his attitude told me how important my money was to his business. So now I only go when I have to. If I lived closer to Greenfield News and Hobby I would go there exclusively.

Where's the Dashboard?

Look to your left. The latest update to the account page frees up space by moving the dashboard to the left side. It still works the same, it's just slimmer and sexier. And for those of you that don't know it, you can collapse the dashboard by clicking on the header.
