4th ed. with Vista
Posted On 08/03/2008 04:29:27 by laby67

Eventually yesterday i found some time to browse the core rulebooks.
It is just my impression or the 4th edition is quite like Windows Vista??
I mean: might be it is better than 3.5 (i seriously doubt this), but very few will be happy with it, once the initial curiosity has passed.

For me I have decided to remain faithful to the old horse (3.5), with some improvements ... like True20 or Pathfinder

I disagree.  Sorry.  Having actually played the game 12 times now, I find the game to be the best version of D&D yet.  And I've been playing since 2nd Edition D&D (Before 1st Edition AD&D).  Admittedly, I hated 3.0 and 3.5, I thought they were a downgrade on the AD&D system, but I think 4e is finally on the right evolutionary path of RPGs.  The only negative I have about the game is that it is over so quickly.  You stop at level 30, and EVERY SINGLE level takes about 10 encounters to achieve.  12 games and I'm already level 11.

The game itself is infinitely better, but I do think it ends too quickly.  Maybe should have increased levelling costs after 11th and 21st level to require 20 and 40 encounters on average.  (Maybe we'll just House Rule that in)

I have made that comparison several times. I'm sticking with Windows XP :)

I agree. 4th ed may find itself struggling.
