I will have to buy it
by laby67

Ok, to start with lets say I'm not so much impressed by d&d4.0 ...

Any case the people behind it at wotc will succeed in making me buying the Forgotten Realms updated setting.

I just want to see how they will fit in races like the Dragonborns or even better the Tieflings.

Will they spoil FR too, with such things that have no ties at all with the game and the setting???

According to my sources, TSR/WotC has made it a point of "updating" or "changing" the Realms every time the version of D&D changed. When we went from AD&D to 2nd Edition, it was the Avatar trilogy, with gods dying, and lame-arses like Cyric taking the place of otherwise cool deities. When 2nd went to 3.0, it became the return of the City of Shade, and other stuff like that (Azoun IV's death, etc). With 4.0, WotC takes the changes to new heights of suckitude (in my opinion), by advancing the timeline, what, 70+ years or so? Elminster and a lot of the other movers and shakers in the Realms are gone; there's some sort of spell-plague that targets arcane spellcasters, and there's some sort of bizarro cosmic soap opera among the gods that makes NO sense if you know anything about the gods of Faerun. We use the Realms, and we're not changing things at all, and staying in the timeline as it was before this whole 4.0 nonsense reared its ugly head.
