I know how you really feel. You try to hide it. But the truth is that you hate their game and the way they play
it. You wouldn't play in it even if doing so cured little Cindy McPigtails of cancer. I've lurked. I've watched you, at night, from the bushes by your window, with your face illuminated by the pale light of the monitor as you flip between the rpg.net forums and "GranniesGoneWild.com". You tried to hide your bashing of someone's realplay thread behind pretty prose, tried to hide your snark and disdain for Gamist style with twisted words.
You thought you could hide it. You thought no one would see through you. You thought that cheap-ass software would wipe those GMILFS from your hard drive. But I know what you're hiding deep down in your gut, what you really want to say.
"No one will play 4E."
"Only munchkins play Vampire."
"Isn't BESM based off of that anime crap?"
"GURPS isn't a game, it's some kind of aborted mutant brain-child."
"Diceless systems are weird and stupid, like intelligent design."
I'm talking about the truth here, people! You hide behind your veneer of civility and open-mindedness when the reality is that you can't stand the way they play their stupid game and the moment someone says the same thing about you, you cry foul and go scurrying behind your false constructs of self-righteous comfort.
Liberate yourself, for cripes sake! Say what you mean, don't dance around the issue just because you're afraid someone's feelings are going to get hurt, or, more craven, that they'll turn you over to the thought police for not being tolerant of their ideas.
Now I'm not advocating spite-filled rants like mine. You just don't like the game or the way someone else is playing it. But don't pretend that your opinion is anymore tolerant or informed than anyone else's. Face the truth. You're a prejudiced little animal, regardless of how many others may enjoy it. You don't like it and it's not for you.
Hate the Game. Hate the Player. Deal with it and move on.
