First check out this link if you haven't already heard about McCain's running mate decision.

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/Vote2008/story?id=5684098&page=1

Who does McCain think he is fooling??? McCain seems to think that in the less than 2 years she has been governor that she has developed the qualifications to be Vice President?  Does he honestly think that if he dies that she’d be up to the task of being President?  This is so obviously a bid for woman voters.  Women should be offended at such a blatant attempt at their votes… that he thinks that women will vote for him just because he has a woman as a running mate. It shows how small minded he really is.  It doesn't even make sense from a politically strategic point of view.  He can no longer call Obama's lack of experience into question because his own VP-select has even less experience than Obama?  Where was his political strategist???  This was the dumbest political move that I can remember.  He's so obviously trying to split the voters... he figures that Obama is going to get all of the black votes so McCain figures that he can get all the women voters by nominating a woman for his VP.

Grrrrrrrrr....

With Gustav becoming a catagory 3 hurricane aimed straight at New Orleans I think that the media is going to completely forget about the RNC and focus on New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast.

TV...I'm hoping that the RNC cancels their convention! I have The Shield premiering this week!

At least Palin is eye candy. McCain could have chosen a typical Washington grub.

I agree... it'll certainly be more exciting than reality TV!

I have to say that I'm pretty surprised at this VP pick too. I thought that if McCain was going to try to continue appealling to former Clinton voters that he would have picked Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas. As I read about Pailin all I can think is that McCain is either exhibiting his maverick streak (making a pick despite the advice of other advice) or he is exhibiting his shrewd streak (she's definitely got the ability to go on attack). I suspect that we'll find out more about her. Its going to be an interesting 2 months with polls showing things are very close.

Guys I must say I am impressed with the level of civil, articulate,
and informed opinions you have all expressed. We have been tormented with the
question of whether or not to discourage the conversation of politics on the
site. After all we are an RPG site and people usually try to escape the real
world when they come to a site like this. As long as the discourse remains
civil and not vitriolic I am content to let you guys do as you please. If you
would like I can create a section in the forums for you to discus your opinions.
The problem with blogs is they all end up on the front page and people don’t aren’t
able to remove them. Its just right there in their face and it may turn people
off.

I would have voted Libertarian if McCain had picked Romney. (even if their candidate got suckered by Borat..lol)

As for Black Women voters. Yeah. No matter what someone is going to come out looking racist or sexist. Hell of a year, huh?

Honestly, I don't believe that time in a political job prepares one to be President.  Last election I voted for Michael Badnarik (Libertarian) because of his background as a Constitutional Scholar and lecturer.  I wanted someone who actually understands the Constitution, the limits of their power, and how our government is "supposed" to work.

Palin may be a fine choice as far as the job she can do as VP.  I just don't think that ever entered McCain's mind when he picked her.  I think all that went through his mind is:  "Woman VP = Woman Votes".

So you have a seasoned politician P-candidate with a VP with relatively little experience and a P-candidate with relatively little experience with a VP who is a seasoned politician.

Seriously people can we get a re-do on primaries again?  Maybe it's time to take a solid look at the Libertarians.

But....but what about the black women voters!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm actually all for it. A lot of Obama supporters don't even know what their candidate stands for. While I would have liked to see Liberman as a running mate, I am now more interested in Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin who comes across as one woman I wouldn't want to mess with. Something Washington needs.

The only reason why Obama got the nomination is because Hillary wasn't popular amongst extreme Leftists. America doesn't need hard right or left, we need moderates running our country.

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has more executive experience than Obama.

But what I tell my students: Don't go blindly into the void JUST because it's cool. Get educated and know your candidate.

I'm not impressed by either side. But I was willing to give Nancy Palosi a chance and she (Censored) the pooch. So I'm not taking another chance like that with one of her cronies.
