Colt M1911A1 Medium Pistol
HISTORY
In 1907, the US Army announced trails to replace its service revolvers with new, semi-automatic pistols. In 1911, after extensive testing, the new pistol and its cartridge put into service for the U.S. military. There were over 2.7 million M1911s produced for the United States and was widely used from World War I through the Vietnam War.
.45 ACP
This round was designed specifically for use with the M1911 pistol and is one of the most successful cartridges due to its great stopping power and is used in numerous submachine guns and pistols to this day.
