Welcome! You have entered [Lounge] at 5:40 pm
[KillerDM] 5:40 pm: hello everyone
[] 5:40 pm: hey
[] 5:40 pm: 'Lo, KillerDM.
[KillerDM] 5:40 pm: is eddy here
[] 5:40 pm: there up to a lot of interpretation, which is hurtful at
least online
[] 5:40 pm: I can imagine.
[] 5:41 pm: Not yet, Killer.
[] 5:41 pm: Chat starts in another 19 minutes.
[KillerDM] 5:41 pm: k I dont know all you guys yet
[KillerDM] 5:41 pm: ill be back to moderate in about 15 minutes
[] 5:41 pm: alright
[Lounge]: eddyfate has entered at 5:41 pm
[] 5:41 pm: Sure.
[] 5:41 pm: Hey, eddy.
[] 5:41 pm: that would be him i think

[eddyfate] 5:42 pm: Hey all.
[] 5:42 pm: evening
[] 5:42 pm: Probably. ;D
[] 5:44 pm: so eddy, hows it going
[eddyfate] 5:44 pm: Not bad. Quickly eating dinner before we officially
start.
[] 5:44 pm: full stomach is certainly helpful
[] 5:45 pm: back
[] 5:46 pm: sorry, got distracted watching the Obama Press Conference
[] 5:47 pm: its cool
[Lounge]: lawine has entered at 5:47 pm
[] 5:48 pm: Running around to some of the WW chat environments to plug
this chat
[lawine] 5:48 pm: Ian, stop getting me interested in stuff. i like my
life boring

[] 5:48 pm: Sorry.

[lawine] 5:48 pm: uagh, just finished setting up a wiki for nokturnis,
and now i have a headache

[] 5:48 pm: WW = Westwood?
[] 5:49 pm: yeah, i came here from someone telling me on HoC earlier today
[lawine] 5:49 pm: white wolf
[] 5:49 pm: WW = White Wolf?
[] 5:49 pm: ah
[] 5:49 pm: White Wolf.
[] 5:49 pm: ok
[] 5:49 pm: Eddy's the Alternative Products developer at White Wolf.
[] 5:49 pm: alternate products?
[lawine] 5:50 pm: ie; products that trees have boycotted

[lawine] 5:50 pm: or in layman's terms; PDF only
[eddyfate] 5:50 pm: Products that are published through alternative
means (PDF, print-on-demand, etc.)
[lawine] 5:50 pm: well yeah, print on demand
[] 5:50 pm: ah, cool
[] 5:50 pm: Telepathic thought-imprint.
[lawine] 5:51 pm: i've only checked out new wave from the AP division so
far, it was cool
[lawine] 5:51 pm: looking forward to the testament of longinus
[] 5:51 pm: I prefer the PDF's myself, not fragile
[eddyfate] 5:51 pm: Yeah, the telepathy crystal press is taking a bit
longer.
[lawine] 5:51 pm: the only fragile WW books are the clanbooks.
everything else seems pretty durable
[eddyfate] 5:51 pm: Thanks, lawine!
[] 5:52 pm: What's it like working at White Wolf?
[] 5:52 pm: New Wave Requiem was sheer genius.
[lawine] 5:52 pm: it was pretty badass yeah. clean design too.
[KillerDM] 5:53 pm: K im back
[eddyfate] 5:53 pm: It's pretty cool, honestly. It's a lot of hard work
-- I'm salaried, so it's not uncommon for me to work 50-hour weeks --
but it's a lot of fun.

[] 5:53 pm: (Jealous)
[] 5:53 pm: Do you do original material generation, or do you develop
off the concepts of someone else?
[] 5:53 pm: lol
[lawine] 5:53 pm: having just released a vampire pdf supplement myself
(fan-based of course), i can definitely appreciate the amount of work
that goes into these books
[] 5:53 pm: I dropped the link and plugged this chat on five of the more
popular RPG chats. Hopefully that should bring people in.
[eddyfate] 5:55 pm: Both. I'm kind of the back-up line developer for
everyone -- I've done original content for all of the game lines that we
currently support.
[eddyfate] 5:55 pm: Yeah, it's a lot of work.
[] 5:55 pm: coolness
[lawine] 5:55 pm: most of the work for me came in the form of whipping
contributors into actually contributing

[eddyfate] 5:56 pm: That's pretty much what a developer does.

[] 5:56 pm: certainly sounds...like work >>>
can ask a question
[lawine] 5:57 pm: since we're on the subject, what's WW's stance on
fan-made supplements anyway?
[eddyfate] 5:57 pm: I think that's all covered in our Dark Pack fan
website guidelines. I can dig up the link if you'd like?
[lawine] 5:57 pm: i can find it, thanks

[] 5:57 pm: _http://www.white-wolf.com/fansites/_
[lawine] 5:58 pm: i wasn't talking about fansites though

[] 5:58 pm: The guidelines include fan-made supplements.
[lawine] 5:58 pm: ah right
[eddyfate] 5:58 pm: Sure, but we decided to fold those guidelines into
the website guidelines, since they both cover a lot of the same ground.
[eddyfate] 5:59 pm: But I admit, that's more Legal's bag than mine. I
just get asked random questions like "How do PDFs differ from HTML files?"
[lawine] 5:59 pm: right, but that's mostly legalese stuff, do you guys
follow the projects personally with interest though?
[eddyfate] 5:59 pm: Sometimes I'd like to, but honestly I don't often
have the time.
[lawine] 5:59 pm: understandable
[eddyfate] 5:59 pm: At any point I'm in the middle of 4-7 projects.
[eddyfate] 6:00 pm: Right now it's... hang on, lemme check my to do list.
[lawine] 6:00 pm: anything you can share with us?

[eddyfate] 6:00 pm: Six, looks like.
[eddyfate] 6:01 pm: Scion adventure (Wolfsheim), Goblin Markets for
Changeling, Testament of Longinus for Vampire, City in the Sand for
Mind's Eye Theatre, Mage adventure (Abedju Cipher) and something for
Game Trade Magazine.
[Lounge]: Eruvanna has entered at 6:01 pm
[KillerDM] 6:01 pm: lets give it a few more minutes for the late comers
[] 6:01 pm: indeed
[Eruvanna] 6:02 pm: Eddy rocks
[lawine] 6:02 pm: pfsh! i just want my fix on wod news

[Lounge]: BLAMM67 has entered at 6:02 pm
[eddyfate] 6:02 pm: Thank you, Eruvanna!
[BLAMM67] 6:02 pm: evening folks
[Eruvanna] 6:02 pm: Big MET Awakening fan

[KillerDM] 6:03 pm: hey blam
[] 6:03 pm: Evening Eruvanna, BLAMM.
[] 6:03 pm: yo
[] 6:04 pm: i'm a exalted player myself
[lawine] 6:04 pm: *hisses*

[eddyfate] 6:04 pm: I'm glad you liked it. That was nine months of my
life, so I'm a little attached to it.

[] 6:04 pm: I don't get to play much these days, but I sort of act like
a general WW cheerleader.

[eddyfate] 6:05 pm: It's true. Ian even has the skirt.
[KillerDM] 6:05 pm: k lets start
[] 6:05 pm: You said you'd never tell anyone about those pictures, Eddy!
[eddyfate] 6:05 pm:

[KillerDM] 6:05 pm: eddy please tell us how you got started
[eddyfate] 6:05 pm: It's a long, weird story, but I'll try to keep it short.
part, assumign you're modding tonight

[] 6:06 pm: in a galaxy far far away...
[eddyfate] 6:06 pm: I've had a desire to be a fiction and RPG writer for
most of my life, way back when I was eight and got my first D&D box set.
[eddyfate] 6:06 pm: I actually started in 2002, when I started workign
with Cynthia Miller on Cartoon Action Hour.
[eddyfate] 6:07 pm: We actually started talking abotu professional
wrestling, believe it or not, but we realized that we had a lot of
similar interests, and our writing and design styles were complementary.
[eddyfate] 6:08 pm: We ended up doing three games with Z-Man Games:
Cartoon Action Hour, Tomorrow Knights RPG and Midway City (which is the
first game I wrote and designed mostly by myself).
[Lounge]: Poltergeist has entered at 6:08 pm
[eddyfate] 6:09 pm: From there, I started doing some freelance work,
primarily on the Red Dwarf RPG and Know Your Role (the WWE RPG).
[eddyfate] 6:09 pm: When White Wolf wanted to start work on Mind's Eye
Theatre: Awakening, my friend Kelley Barnes (who was the Marketing
Director) took me out to lunch and pitched some ideas to me.
[eddyfate] 6:10 pm: She knew I had some experience with working on PDF
and print-on-demand books through my previous work, and wanted to talk
about how an MET book would be done through that route.
[eddyfate] 6:10 pm: Got contracted to develop, write and playtest MET:A
by myself over the course of nine months.
[eddyfate] 6:10 pm: After that, I applied to be the new Vampire Developer.
[eddyfate] 6:11 pm: I didn't get it, but my work on MET:A got the
attention of the Creative Director (Rich Thomas), so he offered me the
position of Alternative Publishing Developer.
[eddyfate] 6:11 pm: That was in October 2007.
[eddyfate] 6:11 pm: The rest, as they say, is history.
[] 6:11 pm: cool
[KillerDM] 6:11 pm: Eruvanna has a question
[Eruvanna] 6:11 pm: Eddy, in your recent interview in the Epitatph
magazine WW released a couple days ago, you mention that in your
position as head of Alternative Publishing that your Print-On Demand
program for some of your PDF products hit some snags, and that there was
a possible future to return to that product offering. Can you speak on
that at all? Do you have an idea on when you might be able to look into
returning to that? *pets his HC MET Awakening*
[eddyfate] 6:12 pm: Sure, I can talk about that.
[eddyfate] 6:12 pm: Some of you may have noticed that DriveThruRPG has
recently made an announcement about moving into print-on-demand. We've
been partnering with them on their initial steps of that.
[eddyfate] 6:13 pm: In fact, we had a meeting about it last Monday,
talking about some ideas and suggestions, based on their business needs
and ours.
[] 6:13 pm: what is print on demand?
[eddyfate] 6:13 pm: It's still in the planning stages, but I do know
that our established PoD products are on the top of the list, so books
like MET:A should be coming out right at the front.
[eddyfate] 6:14 pm: It's a printing process where the books are printed
as they are ordered, instead of in a large print run and then housed in
a warehouse.
[Eruvanna] 6:14 pm: Good to hear
[] 6:14 pm: ah, cool
[] 6:14 pm: *raises hand*
[KillerDM] 6:15 pm: awine is up
[lawine] 6:15 pm: Some people have wondered why the Testament of
Longinus isn't being developed as a hardcover book like rites of the
dragon was, and some have suggested that this might be because of what
happened with the book of nod in masquerade, which some people
apparantly mistook as a real book, which supposedly led to some
troubles. Could you shed some light on this?
[eddyfate] 6:16 pm: Well, I can say that it's not because of being
mistaken for a real book.
[lawine] 6:16 pm: Is it the concern that it won't sell well?
[eddyfate] 6:16 pm: But the main reason is that Rites of the Dragon
wasn't a great seller for us. I had to pitch the Testament as a PDF/PoD
book to make it viable for our business.
[lawine] 6:17 pm: Ah, thank you. Could you give us some spoilers, or is
that a no go?
[eddyfate] 6:18 pm: Crap, it seems i can't get to my files at work for
some reason.
[KillerDM] 6:18 pm: IanWatson your up
[lawine] 6:18 pm: *glares*

[] 6:18 pm: I take it that the DriveThruRPG partnership is what you were
referring to a few weeks back when you mentioned you were looking into
getting older, out of print products into Print-on-Demand? Followup
question: Would this mean that some older books, like oWOD products
would get a better digital conversion rather than just being page scans?
[eddyfate] 6:19 pm: Anyhow, I can say that it's going to be a "new
edition" of the Testament of Longinus. SOme characters in the Vampire:
The Requiem world have uncovered some original materials, and have
commissioned a "new translation", which sheds some new ligh ton
Longinian scholarship.
[eddyfate] 6:19 pm: Yes, part of the conversation with OneBookShelf (the
company that owns DTR) was involving reprinting new books.
[eddyfate] 6:20 pm: Again, we're still at early stages, but I should
admit that we have over 1000 books in PDF. It would be... extremely
onerous to try to do new digital conversions of all of them.
[eddyfate] 6:20 pm: But we'll do what we can with the resources we have.
[] 6:20 pm: Understood. Thank you!
[eddyfate] 6:21 pm: No problem.

[KillerDM] 6:21 pm: Eruvanna your up again
[Eruvanna] 6:21 pm: Eddy, have pdf and POD sales of MET Awakening opened
the doors for any further MET products, or is that line still on hiatus
for the time being? and I know Cammail lists have been down since 1/4 of
6pm Eddy, dunno if that effect the other WW servers
[eddyfate] 6:22 pm: On the latter, I just got some email from the
Requiem IC list, so I think they're up just fine.
[Eruvanna] 6:22 pm: ah, 'k
[eddyfate] 6:23 pm: On the former, while MET:A is turning a profit, it
did so at a pace taht was slower than anticipated, so right now we're
not looking into doing any more core rulebook conversions in the near
future.
[eddyfate] 6:23 pm: However, that doesn't mean we won't do other kinds
of MET products.
[eddyfate] 6:23 pm: And I am constantly thinking of new ways to reinvent
MET to reach more players while staying viable for us as a product.
[eddyfate] 6:24 pm: But those are all long-term plans, which may or may
not happen.
[Eruvanna] 6:24 pm: A printed deck of Disciplines or Rotes for a
suggestion

[eddyfate] 6:24 pm: I've actually looked into print-on-demand cards.
Nothing yet, but it's something I'm kicking around.
[Eruvanna] 6:25 pm: Thanks Eddy
[KillerDM] 6:25 pm: lawine your up
[lawine] 6:25 pm: Are you in involved in any with CCP's work on the
World of Darkness MMO, and if so, could you reveal anything about where
in the process that game is?
[eddyfate] 6:26 pm: Marketing has asked me not to comment on any WoD MMO
we may or may not be working on.

[lawine] 6:26 pm: CURSES
[lawine] 6:26 pm:

[eddyfate] 6:26 pm: Nice try, though.

[KillerDM] 6:26 pm: lol
[eddyfate] 6:26 pm: I DID work a bit on the latest EVE Online expansion,
but I expect y'all don't have much interest in that.
[KillerDM] 6:26 pm: k gues the floor is open pm if you have any questions
[Eruvanna] 6:26 pm: The addition of the Queue to the learnign weas fabulous
[KillerDM] 6:26 pm: guys*
[lawine] 6:26 pm: i used to play eve-online, but i burnt out on it

[KillerDM] 6:27 pm: Im thinking of trying it out
[KillerDM] 6:27 pm: give us some info on it
[Eruvanna] 6:27 pm: It has a nice Traveller feel to it
[lawine] 6:27 pm: i have to say, and i know eddy can't comment

, but i
wouldn't trust a WoD mmo with anyone else but CCP
[eddyfate] 6:27 pm: It's a very different kind of MMO. It's very
sandbox, very PvP.
[] 6:28 pm: sounds like a good fit for WoD
[eddyfate] 6:28 pm: I was asked to help write some missions for the new
epic mission arc, which was designed to help new players to the game.
[eddyfate] 6:28 pm: And my god, we have some RUTHLESS players.
[lawine] 6:28 pm: well, provided we don't get spaceships in the world of
darkness

[eddyfate] 6:28 pm: pew pew pew!
[lawine] 6:28 pm: oh, yeah, eve-online is ruthless, i was ruthless when
i played. i served as the spy that allowed a big alliance to disrupt the
caldari races so we could get out own racers to win

[] 6:28 pm: IF you were making some sort of re-imagined old World of
Darkness MMO, what sort of things would be in it?

[lawine] 6:29 pm: that's what eve-online is all about, being a basttard
[eddyfate] 6:29 pm: Ian: Not spaceships.

[KillerDM] 6:30 pm: Vampire in space sounds like a cool idea to me
[] 6:30 pm: ill leave that to combining muchkin games
[eddyfate] 6:30 pm: Solar flares are a BITCH, though.
[Eruvanna] 6:30 pm: I think I let my slip show, but I'm a fellow
Camarilla member Eddy, anything you'd like to say to these folks on the
Org? *had to go for the plug*
[lawine] 6:30 pm: "yay, we cant have windows on our spaceships because
the sun is ALWAYS shining!"

[eddyfate] 6:30 pm: "Full speed ahead, third start to the right... MY
EYES!!!!"
[] 6:30 pm: When Trinity came out, people complained that they didn't
want to play Vampire in space.
[eddyfate] 6:30 pm: Well, I'm biased, as I've been in the Cam for nearly
12 years.
[KillerDM] 6:31 pm: lol
[lawine] 6:31 pm: i wanted to try the cam, but there weren't any larpers
near me
[eddyfate] 6:31 pm: But I think it's a unique style of game that you
just can't find anywhere else. And there's no way to replicate playing
the same game with hundreds of people, all in the same room as you,
outside of a video game.
[Eruvanna] 6:31 pm: 13 years here, started in colorado, live in New
Hampshire now
[] 6:31 pm: trinity was more like exalted in space from what i hear
[KillerDM] 6:31 pm: I love the vampir larp
[eddyfate] 6:32 pm: Trinity is a bit between Exalted and WoD, I think.
It's a little more "superpowered" than oWoD, but NOTHING on the level of
Exalted's wahoo awesomeness.
West side, I think you're seacoast if I recall
[lawine] 6:32 pm: you know what would be a great way to do a vampire
larp? if we had matrix technology

[eddyfate] 6:32 pm: LOL!
[eddyfate] 6:33 pm: "Tank, I need a blood doll."
[Eruvanna] 6:33 pm: Steampunk WoD?
[] 6:33 pm: *loves his exalts wahoo awsomeness*
[KillerDM] 6:33 pm: Tell us about Exalted
[] 6:33 pm: Yeah. You can throw fire from your hand in public, which is
nice, but you can't run on top of a rain of arrows or anything.

[lawine] 6:33 pm: although we'd get faux news commenting on how violent
wideogames like the wod have gone overboard

[eddyfate] 6:33 pm: Exalted is wahoo awesomeness.
[eddyfate] 6:33 pm: It's an anime-inspired fantasy game with liberal
doses of pulp fantasy and political intrigue.
[] 6:34 pm: lots of kung foo
[KillerDM] 6:34 pm: I keep hearing a lot of good things about it
[eddyfate] 6:34 pm: And the special powers have a neat almost-CCG
quality about them.
I shoudl poke him to join, his name is PEte grunewald
[eddyfate] 6:36 pm: Also, it's apparently possible to use it to run He-Man.
[Eruvanna] 6:36 pm: Eddy, when you sit down at teh table with a bunch of
friends and get ready for a night of Cheetoz, Mt Dew and gaming, what is
your prefered game?
[] 6:36 pm: lol
[eddyfate] 6:36 pm: I have, like, a thousand of them.

[] 6:36 pm: He-Man? Masters of the Universe?
[] 6:36 pm: Braingasm.
[Eruvanna] 6:37 pm: Ok, prefered genre?
[eddyfate] 6:37 pm: Right now, I'm running a Scion game. I've even
hosted it on the Obsidian Portal website.
[eddyfate] 6:37 pm: Ian: Yeah. Russell Bailey even created an Abyssal
that's a lot like Skeletor.
[] 6:38 pm: Scion is fun
[] 6:38 pm: That is awesome. And his Deathlord master Hordak, no doubt.
[eddyfate] 6:38 pm: Eruvanna: Modern, historical and sci-fi, mostly.
[] 6:38 pm: but i found the power disparity at demigod was hard to deal with
[Eruvanna] 6:38 pm: That makes me wonder who's runnign the incredibly
inept Beatsman...
[eddyfate] 6:38 pm: I have a decent run of Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0. that I've
held onto for years.
[] 6:38 pm: Beastman is a Lunar, driven insane by the Wyld.
[eddyfate] 6:39 pm: ash: We're still at Hero level, so we haven't run
into that yet.
[eddyfate] 6:39 pm: Ian: And First Age weapons and vehicles.
[] 6:40 pm: Well hopefully it goes better for you.
[eddyfate] 6:40 pm: Have any of you guys checked out Hunter: The Vigil yet?
[Eruvanna] 6:40 pm: Favourite alcoholic beverage?
[lawine] 6:40 pm: i do have a copy of hunter the vigil and nightstalkers
[] 6:40 pm: The Attak Trak and Road Ripper. Yes.
[lawine] 6:40 pm: i love cheiron and the cainite heresy
[eddyfate] 6:40 pm: Eru: Generally, beer. Usually British brands (like
Newcastle).
[] 6:41 pm: I have Hunter, but haven't done more than gloss over it.
Mostly I was looking for symbols for avatars.
[Lounge]: SlaverLord has entered at 6:41 pm
[eddyfate] 6:41 pm: I just wrapped up the Collection of Horrors today,
which was 16 short PDF files with a scene, a character and aprop each
for Hunter.
[] 6:41 pm: I do like how it's basically "World of Darkness plus"
[eddyfate] 6:41 pm: Including eight "audio props," containing little
audio skits embedded int the PDF.
[lawine] 6:42 pm: you mean, like written out? or embedded in the code
like those stereographic images?

[] 6:42 pm: Probably when you're viewing the PDF there's a play button
or something which will play the audio.
[eddyfate] 6:42 pm: Well, both. The entire script is in the PDF, but we
also recorded them and you can click on an image which plays the skit
for you.
[lawine] 6:42 pm: holy kitty litter*!
[lawine] 6:42 pm: that's cool
[eddyfate] 6:43 pm: It was a kooky idea I had one night, and somehow it
ended up working out.
[eddyfate] 6:43 pm: But I love playing with the format like that,
instead of just cranking out books that happen to be electronic files.
[lawine] 6:43 pm: that is definitely a plus for the AP product over the
written one
[] 6:43 pm: Most of the Collection of Horrors files are about $1.50 or
so. The whole bundle is $20-ish.
[eddyfate] 6:44 pm: Yup.
[eddyfate] 6:44 pm: I even put one of them into the podcast as a sample.
let me dig up the link.
[] 6:44 pm: Link to the bundle: _http://tinyurl.com/d4sjqd_
[eddyfate] 6:45 pm:
_http://eddyfate.podbean.com/2009/04/15/episode-006-collection-of-horrors-sample/_
[lawine] 6:45 pm: speaking of WW audio...maybe you can answer this, i've
always wondered if there was a copy of the music used in the vampire
teaser movie without the voiceover...somehow that music just strikes a
chord with me

[] 6:45 pm: Oh, what was also genius? The Scroll of Swallowed Darkness.
[eddyfate] 6:45 pm: The one we used when we premiered Requiem?
[lawine] 6:45 pm: yeah
[eddyfate] 6:45 pm: Wow, I dunno. It might be around the office
somewhere in the files.
[eddyfate] 6:45 pm: Now I'm curious myself.
[lawine] 6:45 pm: heh, i always thought it might be some obscure
classical music piece or something
[] 6:46 pm: I've got the mp3 used for the flash advertisement for
Orpheus, but that's not quite what you're looking for.
[lawine] 6:46 pm: yeah. i mean, it's not something you should expend
effort on or anything, it's just one of those things that's been nagging
me from time to time

[eddyfate] 6:47 pm: Totally understand.

[lawine] 6:48 pm: ooh, i just thought of a question you can't answer
probably anyway

[eddyfate] 6:48 pm: Okay.
[] 6:48 pm: are the rumors about 5000 copies of the scroll of swallowed
darkness and it gets a real book true/
[lawine] 6:49 pm: supposedly there was a 'TRUTH' file in the old world
of darkness, detailing the TRUTH of the cosmology and backstory of the
various gamelines. do you guys have anything like that for nwod? even if
it's just a preferred vision of the developers? (yeah, i know, toolkit
approach to the nwod, but still)
[eddyfate] 6:49 pm: Yes. Specifically, management has said that if we
sell 5000 copies, we'll seriously consider it. It's not a guarentee, but
it'll go from "no way" to "okay, let's really look at this."
[Eruvanna] 6:50 pm: What si this scroll?
[eddyfate] 6:50 pm: Nope. it's intentionally left so that the people at
the table can determine whatever "truth" they need for the game.
[] 6:50 pm: How far along is that, Eddy? Not expecting an exact number,
just "barely started," "halfway," "almost there" or whatever.
[eddyfate] 6:50 pm: Eru: It was our Exalted erotica April Fool's joke.
[] 6:50 pm: (For the Scroll)
[eddyfate] 6:51 pm: Ian: Let's just say that I think 5000 is an
excessive optomistic number.

[lawine] 6:51 pm: you torment some of us Roleplayers with that you know?

everytime on the WW forums, it's "OMG HOW DOES ARCADIA CHANGELING AND
ARCADIA MAGE FIT TOGETHER? DEVS DEVS? ANSWER PLSZ?" - it's excruciating
for these people

[Eruvanna] 6:51 pm: So kind of liek Think Geek trying to get the
tauntaun sleepign bag made... That's cool

uncensored version: _http://tinyurl.com/c9eaxk_
[] 6:52 pm: 1 dollar isn't bad

[eddyfate] 6:52 pm: lawine: Well, I think it's a change. As gamers,
we're so used to having the One True Answer for our games that it's
tough to realize that the answer really is "whatever you think it is."
[Lounge]: Poltergeist has left at 6:52 pm
[] 6:53 pm: Changeling Arcadia and Mage Arcadia are the same place, and
if you say any different, I KILL YOU.
[lawine] 6:53 pm: eddy: i agree. and personally i like it both ways to
be honest. it gives st's the freedom to do what they want, but on the
other end of the spectrum, maybe some storytellers just aren't creative
enough to really go to the lengths that their players might want them to
with that, and it ends up feeling generic. pros and cons.
[Eruvanna] 6:53 pm: *snicker*
[eddyfate] 6:54 pm: Way to be rational there, Ian.

[] 6:54 pm: my plots come from TV sometimes >.>
[] 6:54 pm: at least thats were they start
[eddyfate] 6:54 pm: lawine: Sure, which is why we try to put out a lot
of good support material to help out with the questions that come up at
the table, leaving the higher questions to be used as needed.
[lawine] 6:54 pm: my plots come from the diseased depths of my brain. at
least, that's what i tell players so they get in the right mood
[] 6:54 pm: Also, Caine, Divis Mal and the Unconquered Sun are the same
person. I have proof the reptiles who control the government don't want
you to see!
[Eruvanna] 6:55 pm: That sample is funny
[eddyfate] 6:55 pm: But the cool thing is that nowadays, al you have to
do is surf some forums and websites, and you can find tons of other fan
answers if you can't think of some of your own.
[] 6:55 pm: hahah, i knew it!
[lawine] 6:55 pm: eddyfate: and i for one appreciate that! especially
the more recent stuff like the clanbooks has been doing that in a
terrific fashion
[lawine] 6:55 pm: vampire at least has gone in a bit of a new direction
[] 6:55 pm: The new clanbooks are gorgeous.
[] 6:55 pm: Craig needs a pizza trophy for those.
[eddyfate] 6:55 pm: Absolutely. Joe and his crew did an AMAZING job on
the clanbooks.
[lawine] 6:55 pm: yes, but it isn't just the design, it's the overall
feel of the game that's changing. and i like the change personally
[eddyfate] 6:56 pm: I am constantly in awe of Craig's art direction.
[lawine] 6:56 pm: like, not just the clanbooks, but immortal sinners and
ancient mysteries too
[Eruvanna] 6:56 pm: What's on the Awakenig horizon fo rnew books/
[] 6:56 pm: Summoners came out today.
[lawine] 6:57 pm: I thought that was wod core?
[eddyfate] 6:57 pm: Right, Summoners just came out.
[] 6:57 pm: Other than that the only thing on my list is Apjedu Cipher.
[eddyfate] 6:57 pm: Nope, it's Mage.
[lawine] 6:57 pm: ah
[eddyfate] 6:57 pm: Also, there's the Mage SAS.
[lawine] 6:57 pm: well, i don't really play mage myself.
[eddyfate] 6:57 pm: And down the road, Mage gets a Night Horrors book, I
believe (which is a line of Storyteller characters slanted to individual
lines, but able to be easily ported to any WoD game).
[Eruvanna] 6:58 pm: What does somouners cover? Abysal summoning? Spirit
Summoning? Ghost summoning? Sleepers or Awakened?
[lawine] 6:58 pm: of course, i do have the core. (yeah, i'm a WW whore.
i have like 40 hardcover WW books or something)
[] 6:58 pm: I heard Joe originally wanted to call them "Night Terrors."
[eddyfate] 6:58 pm: yeah, that got shot down.
[lawine] 6:58 pm: i used to have night terrors as a kid.

[] 6:58 pm: Ahh! Cobras!
[eddyfate] 6:59 pm: Summoners covers lots of different kinds of spirit
summonings.
[] 6:59 pm: Eruvanna: There are things not of this world. Things that
lurk in the margins of the universe, lying in the layers between worlds.

[Eruvanna] 6:59 pm: lawine, You should check it out, it's a really good
system to play in onc eyou get going... it's just gettign over afew
initial bumps to tranistion fomr OWoD Mage to NWoD
[lawine] 7:00 pm: oh, i have no doubt it's good, it's just....somehow i
haven't found a good ST for it or what not. i'm more of a vampire guy myself
[lawine] 7:00 pm: i like being pure undead evil

[] 7:00 pm: Speaking of, Geist is sounding really good.
[eddyfate] 7:00 pm: Nothing like playing an undead bastard.

[Eruvanna] 7:00 pm: I honestly got really bored with that
[lawine] 7:00 pm: i swear, my vampire chars always end up being all:
"torture is fun."
[eddyfate] 7:00 pm: I will be SO happy when I can talk about Geist: The
Sin-Eaters.
[lawine] 7:01 pm: eruvanna: different tastes i guess.
[Eruvanna] 7:01 pm: Hwo long until you can talk abotu it?
[lawine] 7:01 pm: man, i am looking forward to geist.
[eddyfate] 7:01 pm: Whenever Marketing says I can.

[] 7:01 pm: It looks like it combines elements of Wraith's Risen with
the twinned soul of Mummy: The Resurrection.
[KillerDM] 7:01 pm: some one needs to tell me what geist is
[eddyfate] 7:01 pm: I know Ethan's been sneaking out bits and pieces
where he can.
[Eruvanna] 7:01 pm: *chuckle*
[lawine] 7:01 pm: are they watching you, eddy? do they have bugs on your
computer?
[eddyfate] 7:01 pm: Geist is the upcoming World of Darkness game.
[] 7:01 pm: Geist: The Sin-Eaters is the next game to come out.
[] 7:02 pm: August, I believe.
[eddyfate] 7:02 pm: lawine: No, but I'll tell you, and you'll tell other
people, and they'll figure out who talked. And then? Ninjas.
[lawine] 7:02 pm: a lot of people were really surprised by the sub-title
i think
[KillerDM] 7:02 pm: cool
[] 7:02 pm: Weren't expecting a hyphenated noun, I think.
[lawine] 7:02 pm: i won't tell other people! actually that's a lie i'll
tell everybody.
[eddyfate] 7:02 pm: I just finished up the quickstart for Geist a couple
of weeks ago.
[] 7:02 pm: Is that the one that's going to be out for Free RPG Day?
[lawine] 7:03 pm: no i think people were expecting Geist: The Oblivion
[eddyfate] 7:03 pm: ian: Yup.
[eddyfate] 7:03 pm: lawine: Yeah, and it's... very not.
[Eruvanna] 7:03 pm: lawine: if not Oblivion...somethign ghosty
[] 7:03 pm: Geist: The Spookening
[] 7:03 pm: lol
[lawine] 7:03 pm: personally, i'm hoping to see some info on the
underworld

[eddyfate] 7:04 pm: I tried to push "Geist: The Geisting," but that
didn't fly.
[] 7:04 pm: *cough* Book of the Dead *cough*
[lawine] 7:04 pm: oh right, that
[lawine] 7:04 pm: that is coming out too right
[eddyfate] 7:04 pm: And then there was the fact that it's German, so you
could just slap on extra words.
[eddyfate] 7:04 pm: nachtengeist, wolfengeist, geistengeist
[lawine] 7:04 pm: well, i'm dutch, close enough to german to know geist
is more of a spirit than a ghost, it's kind of an overlap area

[] 7:05 pm: Geist: Der Hubschrauberlandeplatz
[lawine] 7:05 pm: Geist: HAMMERZEIT
[eddyfate] 7:05 pm: lawine: Absolutely. It was totally an intentional
choice.
[eddyfate] 7:05 pm: geistengeistengeistengeist.
[lawine] 7:06 pm: of course, that only raises questions of how they
interact with spirits if at all

[eddyfate] 7:06 pm: (Full disclosure: My wife studies German, so I learn
a lot of my German language jokes from her.)
[] 7:06 pm: lol
[KillerDM] 7:06 pm: lol
[] 7:06 pm: A spirit of a spirit of a spirit of a spirit. The
Storytelling Game of Dude's Who've Died Five Times.
[] 7:06 pm: obviously they need a ghost whisperer or some such

[Eruvanna] 7:07 pm: Sorry, couldn't resist the obvious, and likely
tired, pun
[lawine] 7:07 pm: the cover should show Caspar the friendly ghost being
eaten by a monstrous specter or something.
[eddyfate] 7:07 pm: It's a bit like my old MET joke.
[Eruvanna] 7:07 pm: ?
[eddyfate] 7:07 pm: There was this guy who just made obnoxious characters.
[eddyfate] 7:08 pm: So I told him he could make a character with the
Flaw "Dead."
[eddyfate] 7:08 pm: It gave him 5,000 XP.
[lawine] 7:08 pm: haha.
[Eruvanna] 7:08 pm: Know lots of them....
[] 7:08 pm:

[eddyfate] 7:08 pm: But his character was dead.
[eddyfate] 7:08 pm: Not ghost dead. Not vampire dead. Dead dead. he had
to play a corpse in the corner.
[Eruvanna] 7:08 pm: *chuckle* How long did it take him to catch on?
[lawine] 7:08 pm: with 5 in every attribute
[eddyfate] 7:08 pm: Corpse: The Decomposing.
[eddyfate] 7:09 pm: Sadly, he caught on too quickly.
[lawine] 7:09 pm: "alright, with this massive xp, i'm going to take
allies 5: government. When can i use them?" "never" "never?" "you're dead."
[eddyfate] 7:09 pm: I SO wanted to ST him. "Okay, you get to attack him,
she gets to attack her, guy in the corner is still dead, she feeds on
the ghoul...."
[] 7:10 pm: That's beautiful.
[lawine] 7:10 pm: Flaw: Moron, effect: the ST changes every smart action
you take into one that will likely get you killed.
[] 7:10 pm: aye
[Eruvanna] 7:10 pm: shoulda made it "mostly dead"with 2000 XP... heart
beats once an dhoru, if not found out in 3 hours is dead dead, add an
extra 2k xp
[eddyfate] 7:10 pm: LOL!
[] 7:10 pm: Go through his pockets looking for loose XP.
[eddyfate] 7:11 pm: My friend who freelancers for WotC countered with
the Dead Prestige Class.
[] 7:11 pm: RPGnet had a thread where someone, frustrated with his
group's munchkin, came up with a game called "I destroy the world."
[eddyfate] 7:11 pm: Levels 1-20 are all 0 XP. But you're dead.
[lawine] 7:11 pm: hahaha
[Eruvanna] 7:12 pm: cute
[eddyfate] 7:12 pm: Ian: I can only imagine how awesome that must have been.
[lawine] 7:12 pm: New Merit: Decomposition, 1 to 5 dots
[] 7:12 pm: Game goes like this: "What do you do?" "I destroy the
world." "How?" "Zombie cheerleaders" or whatever.
[Eruvanna] 7:12 pm: Reminds me of OWoD Werechickens
[] 7:12 pm: Unfortunately, his player really liked it and had him run
countless games.
[eddyfate] 7:12 pm: Ian: ROTF!
[eddyfate] 7:12 pm: It's like a really short version of Baron Munchausin.
[eddyfate] 7:13 pm: Only, you know, spelled correctly.
[KillerDM] 7:13 pm: lol
[] 7:13 pm: I made a character sheet. Most of it was taken up by a
picture of an asteroid obliterating Earth, and the title "I Destroy the
World." There was only one line to write something: "Method: ______"
[] 7:14 pm: Baron Münchhausen
[Eruvanna] 7:14 pm: hrm... Jello!
[lawine] 7:14 pm: this game sounds relevant to my interests....
EST, but I can wrap it up if you need me to.
[Eruvanna] 7:14 pm: Destrcution fo the world by Pudding Pop commercials
starring Bill Cosby!
[eddyfate] 7:15 pm: I adore EAoBM.
[eddyfate] 7:15 pm: Link for those who aren't familiar with it:

[Eruvanna] 7:16 pm: nifty
[] 7:16 pm: Yaar. Great game. I love the design of the book, too.
[lawine] 7:16 pm: hehe: It adds rules for playing the game in an Arabian
style and a complete supplementary game, ‘My Uncle the Baron’, designed
for children, the inbred and those who are very drunk.
[] 7:17 pm: that game looks awsome
[eddyfate] 7:17 pm: James Wallis has a great sense of humor.

[] 7:18 pm: Ervanna: _http://drecosby.ytmnd.com/_
[Eruvanna] 7:19 pm: Finny Ian, I like

[] 7:20 pm: And apparently I killed all conversation.
[] 7:20 pm: Go me
[eddyfate] 7:20 pm: KILLER!
[KillerDM] 7:20 pm: yes
[Eruvanna] 7:20 pm: So, anything we haven't asked about that you want to
plug Eddy?
[KillerDM] 7:20 pm: you called
[lawine] 7:20 pm: this is moar awesome:
_http://www.ucbcomedy.com/videos/play/3211_
[eddyfate] 7:21 pm: Oh, no, I was mocking Ian.
[eddyfate] 7:21 pm: Uh... lemme see.
[eddyfate] 7:21 pm: Covered the Collection of Horrors.
[] 7:21 pm: All-too common, sadly.
[eddyfate] 7:21 pm: Covered the Testament.
[eddyfate] 7:21 pm: Covered New Wave Requiem.
[] 7:21 pm: Scroll of Swallowed Darkness, Print-on-demand...
[] 7:22 pm: exalted books?

[] 7:22 pm: i was wondering how scroll of heroes was looking
[eddyfate] 7:22 pm: John's just about ready to send Alchemicals to
production, I know that.
[] 7:22 pm: yeah, i saw a few spoilers
[eddyfate] 7:22 pm: I honestly haven't had a chance to look at that.
[eddyfate] 7:22 pm: But I remember John and I had a talk about it.
[] 7:22 pm: Oo, I wanna read that. Always liked the Siddies and the
Autobots.
[eddyfate] 7:23 pm: Originally I was going to do a pre-generated group
of Exalted characters, one for each kind of Exalt.
[eddyfate] 7:23 pm: And he said that a lot of that would be covered by
the Scroll of Heroes.
[eddyfate] 7:23 pm: So there's going to be a fair number of canon
characters statted out.
[eddyfate] 7:23 pm: And some will be at starting PC level, apparently.
[eddyfate] 7:23 pm: But that was back in the early development stage, so
it might be a little different now.
[] 7:23 pm: alright, cool. I'll get to see the siddie stats...ah the
cannon siddie's, there so much better then my siddie
[eddyfate] 7:24 pm: Joe Carriker keeps tyring to talk me into running a
Siderial game.
[eddyfate] 7:24 pm: Because he knows I like espionage games.
[] 7:24 pm: there a fun one, mix of big game hunting and office
[] 7:24 pm: Joe is never wrong.
[] 7:25 pm: and espionage of course, but to me thats part of office

[] 7:25 pm: I've known Joe since back when we both had Wolf Pack demo teams.
[eddyfate] 7:25 pm: I disagree. Joe is often wrong.
[eddyfate] 7:25 pm: For example, he told me he has a soul.
[eddyfate] 7:25 pm: And we KNOW that's wrong.
[] 7:25 pm: Joe has a soul.
[] 7:25 pm: well he does
[] 7:25 pm: In a bag.
[] 7:25 pm: he just stole it
[eddyfate] 7:25 pm: LIES.
[KillerDM] 7:25 pm: lol
[eddyfate] 7:25 pm: Pfft. A zip-lock bag, maybe.
[eddyfate] 7:25 pm: One of those tiny ones you put a stick of celery in.
[] 7:26 pm: he keeps it in the freezer so it doesn't go bad
[] 7:26 pm: Keeps the freshness in.
[eddyfate] 7:26 pm: Mmmm. Soul slushy.
[] 7:26 pm: tasty
[eddyfate] 7:26 pm: Besides, I'm running a Scion game for him now.
[Eruvanna] 7:27 pm: Eddy, has ther ebeen any talk of AWoD bestiary of
any sort, or somethign which would give more examples of Cryptids?
[eddyfate] 7:27 pm: But yeah, I might do a siddie game after that wraps up.
[] 7:27 pm: cool
[] 7:27 pm: I haven't read Scion at all yet, to my chagrin. Maybe once I
get my EeePC running again and I have something to lie down with to read.
[] 7:27 pm: in general i find its really hard to get a TT at least were
i live. I do online chats
[eddyfate] 7:28 pm: Eru: I did pitch a WoD book covering animals. It
hung around for a while, but the pitch was ultimately scrapped in favor
of other projects.
[Eruvanna] 7:28 pm: Well, hopefully it gets brought back wehn som eof
the hot stuff dis off

[eddyfate] 7:28 pm: ash: I know the feeling, man. Before I moved to
Atlanta, it was a b***h getting a good game together.
[eddyfate] 7:28 pm: Oh. Apparently I can't swear here.
[eddyfate] 7:28 pm: bullocks.
[] 7:28 pm: Krunk.
[KillerDM] 7:28 pm: well #$%^&* works
[lawine] 7:28 pm: how will we talk about female canines now?!
[KillerDM] 7:29 pm: #$%^&*
[eddyfate] 7:29 pm: KillerDM: I find your chat software strangely
arbitrary.

[KillerDM] 7:29 pm: nope i was wrong
[eddyfate] 7:29 pm: bee-yatch.
[KillerDM] 7:29 pm: we are a family site

[] 7:29 pm: lol
[Eruvanna] 7:29 pm: I just gto a regular game going at about 4 hours a
week afte rliv ing in this area for 12 years, so I knwo the feeling
[KillerDM] 7:29 pm: lol
[lawine] 7:29 pm: i come from a long line of sailors. are you saying my
family isn't good enough for this site?

[] 7:29 pm: online chats have the good and bad. bad mostly in the fact
that sometimes charm...wording can turn into a rather large argument

[KillerDM] 7:29 pm: lol so do I
[] 7:30 pm: but good cause lots of stories
[KillerDM] 7:30 pm: we have some tempermental members
[eddyfate] 7:30 pm: No, that's fair. Sometimes I can keep my profanity
inside.
[] 7:30 pm: Everyone I gamed with decided they weren't my friends
anymore once my wife and I separated. I'm not exactly trying real hard
to get them back, but they were the only gaming group I've found in years.
[KillerDM] 7:30 pm: I personal dont mind
[eddyfate] 7:30 pm: But my family is Irish-American. We consider
profanity to be largely punctuation. I don't know how many times I've
accidentally swore in front of someone.
[eddyfate] 7:31 pm: Ian: ew, I hate it when you lose friends in a breakup.
[lawine] 7:31 pm: eddy: i'm dutch, according to linguistic experts, our
language has over 5000 unique cursewords and insults. more than any
other on the planet. that fact makes me proud.
[Eruvanna] 7:31 pm: If you lose them were they really friends ot begin with?
[eddyfate] 7:31 pm: that's why I had to label my podcast "explicit,"
because I forget.

[] 7:31 pm: i've mostly had game group schims
[] 7:31 pm: schisms*
[] 7:31 pm: Yeah, virtually all of them. Sucked. But I'm not here to
rant about my relationships, or lack thereof.
[KillerDM] 7:31 pm: law thats awesome
[lawine] 7:32 pm: it kind of is!
[eddyfate] 7:32 pm: lawine: I am insanely impressed. However, if I told
my Icelandic co-workers that I was hanging out with a dutch fan, they
might kill me.
[eddyfate] 7:32 pm:

[KillerDM] 7:32 pm: maybe WW should come out with a source book of curses
[lawine] 7:32 pm: omg, why? this is racism!
[] 7:32 pm: Those Vikings get temperamental.
[Eruvanna] 7:32 pm: Actually it'd be countryism wouldn't it?
[eddyfate] 7:32 pm: Eru: Not really. But it still hurts when someone
decides you're not worth hanging out with anymore, you know?
[KillerDM] 7:32 pm: no its literature
[Eruvanna] 7:33 pm: Nationalalityism?
[eddyfate] 7:33 pm: thatguyoverthereism.
[Eruvanna] 7:33 pm: I do Eddy
[KillerDM] 7:33 pm: so i want to hear all 5000 curses
[lawine] 7:33 pm: hah.
[lawine] 7:33 pm: i only know a fraction
[eddyfate] 7:33 pm: And I dunno. Something about the Dutch occupying
their country or something. I gave up trying to understand when they
told me they have 12 Santa Clauses.
[lawine] 7:34 pm: a lot of them have to do with wishing diseases on others
[KillerDM] 7:34 pm: i stick with the four commom ones
[lawine] 7:34 pm: wah...we've never occupied iceland

[Eruvanna] 7:34 pm: *goes to fetch som enice ice cold unsweetened tea*
[eddyfate] 7:34 pm: To be fair, I've been to Iceland. There's not much
to occupy.

[lawine] 7:35 pm: hot springs
[] 7:35 pm: The entire population of Iceland can fit here in Hamilton, I
believe.
[Eruvanna] 7:35 pm: Hamilton?
[lawine] 7:35 pm: i think geographically they're a fair bit bigger than
us. but only like, 2 people live there
[KillerDM] 7:35 pm: didn't they just go bankrupt
[eddyfate] 7:35 pm: Yup. 300,000 people.
[eddyfate] 7:36 pm: More like the entire government had a "do over."
[] 7:36 pm: Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Eight largest city in the
country, population 500,000.
[lawine] 7:36 pm: CCP is keeping the iceland economy afloat

[Eruvanna] 7:36 pm: Thougth mayeb Ian, btu wasn't sure

[] 7:36 pm: About 45 minutes southwest of Toronto.
[eddyfate] 7:36 pm: And it's just so weird.
[eddyfate] 7:36 pm: Like, you can walk into the prime minister's office.
[Eruvanna] 7:36 pm: *nodS* I know where it is, Cam chapter there
[eddyfate] 7:37 pm: Just "hey, was in the neighborhood, thought I'd pop in."
[] 7:37 pm: That there is.
[] 7:37 pm: Eddy: Seriously? That's crazy.
[eddyfate] 7:37 pm: Yeah. It's nuts.
[Eruvanna] 7:37 pm: I bet you could lose the entirety of ICeland in
northern Maine and never hear form them again, until they started
fillign it up
[eddyfate] 7:37 pm: They also have a penis museum.
[] 7:37 pm: well, a tleast they have there passions
[Eruvanna] 7:38 pm: a PEnis museum? Do they have a Narwhale penis?
[KillerDM] 7:38 pm: no the hillbillys would get them
[lawine] 7:38 pm: we have museums like that here in amsterdam
[lawine] 7:38 pm: we have a sex museum, and a monument to prostitutes
[Eruvanna] 7:38 pm: Killer, they'd have to find them first... I did say
northern maine

[eddyfate] 7:38 pm: _http://www.phallus.is/_
[KillerDM] 7:38 pm: lol i dont know ive been out that way cary people
out there
[eddyfate] 7:39 pm: And it looks like they do.
[KillerDM] 7:39 pm: lovcraft was right
[KillerDM] 7:40 pm: wow did i kill the chat
[] 7:40 pm: *blink* I'm looking at the museum's gallery. Is that a
wood-carved clock with different-length phalluses as hour and minute hands?
[] 7:40 pm: yes
[KillerDM] 7:40 pm: lol
[Eruvanna] 7:40 pm: dude...that's cool... and Eddy kileld the chat with
the penis museum link

[KillerDM] 7:40 pm:

[] 7:41 pm: Good way to go. End on a high note.

[KillerDM] 7:41 pm: hey i was going to post this chat in the forums
[eddyfate] 7:41 pm: I live to serve. [bows]
[eddyfate] 7:41 pm: "Eddy comes in, answers some questions, talks about
profanity and penises, and leaves."
[KillerDM] 7:41 pm: do i need to edit out the penis chat
[lawine] 7:41 pm: lol
[eddyfate] 7:41 pm: Well, at least my company's reputation is intact.

[] 7:41 pm: Ring ring ring ring ring ring ring
[] 7:41 pm: Penisphone!
[] 7:42 pm: excellent
[lawine] 7:42 pm: the penis chat should not be edited out. otherwise
we'll lose context!
[KillerDM] 7:42 pm: when is the penis source book comming out
[KillerDM] 7:42 pm: lol
