Night of the Living Dead
1st game. Characters all started seperately. During the character creation process, we were each told a story about how we've come to this town in the name of adventure and reward, heeding the call from local magistrates who offered 200 gold to whomever could stop a problem with giant insects that was plagueing the city. Just before sunset, an omen-like sign of an eclipse spread panic into the masses. So, the majority of the populace was behind locked doors and windows, t... Read More

4E: Powers!
So, continuing my 4th edition analysis after a little over two months of running two separate groups in 4E, I now take a look at the Power system of the new edition. Powers are divided in to a couple categories, and by "power source." Martial, Divine and Arcane are power sources, for example. Power types are spells an... Read More

My 4e thoughts
I've already commented some, around, about my thoughts on 4E, but for those not in the know, I think the game ROCKS!Who am I? Started playing in '89 the 2nd edition D&D (before 1st edition AD&D), loved it, loved both AD&D editions, HATED 3rd edition, including 3.5I figured from the beginning that I was going to hate 4th edition as well, after all, they'd left the path of proper evolution when they went to third. I hated 3rd because they remained in classes. The prop... Read More

Two Months of 4E! Part One: Healing Surges
So, as I mentioned in Blog #1 I've been running two regular groups in 4th edition Dungeons & Dragons. One group (6 players strong) was mostly grognards and we played essentially a cross-breed of AD&D 1st and 2nd edition with some Castles & Crusades mixed in for good measure. The other group (4 players) had been playing Runequest, the new Mongoose edition, since January. I had talked them in to it, as I had committed to not running anymore 3rd edition D&D since arou...
