So, um, hello!
I'm Alex Bates and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I've been playing with miniatures since I was about 12 or 13 years old - an old Ral Partha figure, a "Ranger in Mail with Bow" was the first figure I ever bought (for D&D, of course), and I've been hooked ever since. I went through a Ral Partha phase, a Citadel phase (starting with 40K, going to Fantasy, then and still to LoTR), and today I mostly mess about with Wargods of Aegyptus figures.
I've been able to fulfill a lifelong dream to go to GenCon these last two years (2006 and 2007), and it was my great pleasure to volunteer a bit with the folks who run Crocodile Games - Chris Fitzpatrick and company. Spending time with them gave me what I call my "High Fidelity" moment (watch the film of that name and you'll catch my meaning). I realized that I could start a miniatures company! The industry is small enough that even the best sculptors are still approachable by regular citizens such as myself, and the internet keeps us at a safe distance but still allows us to get in touch.
When 'Cacique Caribe' of Theminiaturespage.com posted pictures of his primitive hide tent greens (in the summer of 2007), I realized that I could purchase them and produce them myself, much like Rob Gordon in High Fidelity realizes that he can produce a record near the end of 'High Fidelity'. So, I bought CC's greens, and I've been slowly working on the company ever since.
I've had ideas for miniatures floating around in my head for years, and I see this company as my opportunity to get my favorite sculptors to turn my ideas into reality. I expect to be able to release 4-10 figures a year - a small business, but that's a realistic assessment of my discretionary income and free time at the moment.
I'll be posting greens and concept art to this page as it becomes available, and I hope that you'll all be interested in what I have to offer!
