Looking at the other groups out there for ideas about Weird World War 2, I want to go in my own direction. I love the idea of RIFTS, taking the idea that Nazi Germany was using its horrible deeds to open portals to gather power makes sense to me. Movies and comic books like Hellboy and Indiana Jones hit on this idea a lot. Also Graphic novels like The Life Eaters, show’s Germany doing hellish things to gather power for the third Reich. So my Axis powers will have supernatural elements as well as super science. The American’s with the Manhattan project, Tesla science, and downed UFO technology will have super science as well, but having a long history of vigilantism, will also have super heroes and mavericks doing their best for the allies. The British government has a long history of supernatural elements and a warrior creed that has spanned thousands of years. I’m sure super science and the power of Camelot will protect the queen. The Russians also have a long history of supernatural elements and a warrior creed; Baba Yaga, Rasputin, and spectral Cossacks will help stop the axis push into the mother land. Gas weapons, nerve gas, and horrible biological weapons will also come into play. Most basic troops will have to have gas mask and other protection just to stay alive on the battlefield at all times. I want to start setting my gaming forces to reflect these ideas… what are your thoughts?

My Son and I play over the weekend, this is our second battle...
American forces: (1) The Slayer (2) Angel (3) 9 man infantry squad (Vets of three battles so far) (4) Anti Tank halftrack (5) Big Bob Watts (OSS Agent)The Mission: To save a kidnapped Scientist who has invented a way to control the undead. Axis Forces: (1) Huge Horde of Zombies (2) 3 Vampires (Including Spike) (3) 1 Flesh Golem (4) 4 Mutated soldiers with prototype weapons (5) The Red Skull (6) Captured Scientist. The Mission: Destroy all the heroes and escape with the scientist. I’m not going to write another long battle report, I’m just too tired. It’s been a long weekend, but here are some pics and I’ll point out the highlights! This is a night battle. The Table Jarrett placed most of his troops in the halftrack and raced across the city, unloading in front of the horde. Angel Charges head long into the zombie horde! The Hordes comes... Big Bob fires his Greek fire thrower Angel stops a good portion of the zombies, buts is locked in battle for about two full turns, but finally destroys them all. The Slayer and the rifle teams fire into the on coming hordes, cutting down their numbers... The Axis Vampires attack! The Slayer Kills two... But she is killed by the last vamp. Bob Fires up the last Zombies, but the Female Vamp slays him in close combat! Jarrett's rifle team tries to push forward to save the scientist, Red Skull and his henchmen try to make it to a working car... Jarrett's "battle bus" tries to run over the Flesh golem and the Red Skull, but they make their skill saves... The Last Vamp and Angel Battle for about two turns, but alas Angel is wounded and escapes... After losing Angel, Jarrett's rifle team retreats, losing the scientist and the game. Over all a very fun battle, my son and I are now playing Gears of war... -Cheers!

Jarrett ( my son) and I are having three battles this weekend; the first is a battle in a French town. Jarrett’s forces(3) Rifle Squads (2) Sherman M4s (one with support missile rack) (2) Halftracks with antitank guns (1) Prototype Walking Tank Axis forces(2) PzKpfw IV (1) Panzer 38 t (2) Rifle squads (1) Field Marshal on horse with Prototype antitank rifle (1) Occult monster handler (2) Werewolves (1) Axis battle suit This was a basic battle no scenario, we just wanted to test some of Brian’s rules that we never used before, the werewolves and the walker. The first turn was very basic with no real action, spotting checks going badly and ambushes being set up. Some tanks got bogged down going over some rocky terrain. One lucky rocket attack by Jarrett’s Sherman killed three of my riflemen and one werewolf failed his KIA test so was blown into little chunks. My Panzer ambushed one of his halftracks and immobilized it with no further damage. Jarrett pushed forward with his other halftrack and his Sherman, his infantry also pushed forward. During my turn my Panzer shattered the other halftrack, but Jarrett made all of his saves for the crew who bailed out and tried to join up with a close by infantry team. I pushed my Field marshal forward on horse back and with his prototype rifle killed two of the crew, my werewolf charge the others in close combat and tore them apart. My light panzer made it around the corner of one building and had a losing duel with one of the Sherman’s, only one of the crew survived and ran towards his fellow troopers hiding in some rocks. Turn two and three had Jarrett’s walker sneaking up to a building and taking some pot shots at my PzKpfw IV’s. The armor was too tough and he hid the mech behind a building. His infantry squad made it to the same building, and commenced with a fire fight with one of my rifle teams and my LMG, he lost to a man. My Battle suit had no effect firing at the American walker, all shots just bouncing off... Jarrett’s walker tried to get a bead on my retreating Panzers but missed all of his shots. During Jarrett’s turn he also blasted the hell out of my second Werewolf and also killed my Field marshal and Occult monster handler. Jarrett’s Tank and infantry pushing through the middle of the board have pinned down my second rifle team, and in response I charge my heavily wounded Werewolf into close combat with his rifle team with no results. During the last turn Jarrett used his Sherman’s to destroy one of my PzKpfw IV’s and crippled my second rifle team. At this point I gave in the towel, over all a fun battle was had!

NEVER take a resin mech, paint it really well, then cover it in Future with a dark stain, THEN try to fix it with matte spray. It will immediately melt the acrylic paint off the mech and have it pool at it’s feet. FAIL!`
Well we did Dexcon, 23 hours of gaming madness. Both Jarrett and I had a wonderful time, gaming, seeing old friends, eating and drinking bad foods, and did I say gaming? PIC: This Is SugarFEST!I’m going to try to try to describe as best I can the events of the convention, my son forgot his digital camera. First off both Jarrett and I were up at 5 am to pack and get all of our stuff into the car, after weaving our way through driving directions written by a mad gerbil, we made it to the East Brunswick Hilton at 7am.
We found the reservation desk and were preregistered. PIC:Thanks Turk!
I got assign to security and I helped Jarrett pick his list of games for the day. Well, I did this after meeting an old friend I’ve not seen in seven years, Mike Larenzo. Mike I befriend way in the past while I was still married to “THE WIFE WHO WILL NOT BE NAMED!” He was a very young twenty something that I met after posting in a gaming shop looking for local 40K gamers. Mike was a fun gamer, a power gamer, and just became a really great friend. He had ran on Friday a Weird War game that I missed that sounded fantastic, and he was throwing two Zombie attack games, using a variation of the Starship Troopers rules. Jarrett and I signed up to both of those games. Jarrett also signed up for a B5 space battle game, a B5 RPG, and Warhammer 40k Bring and Battles games. I of course was assigned to security, Turk didn’t come in till later, but I did meet all the new younglings, a bunch of really nice people. My security detail mostly during the day was “geek wrangling” making sure all the gamers had their ID’s showing and that they belonged there. I was also posted to the “big Board” where all the game events were monitored and kept track. Jarrett of course Played his first zombie game, (Mike did state he would send me some picks, I do hope they come.) The game was fun as hell, and I will describe the later game that I was part of. The gaming area was HUGE; the main focal point was “The Arena” a space that was easily 100X50 feet, all covered in green felt. By the time we had got there they were setting up an Apocalypse 40K Battle. This was an amazing site, huge Ork gargants, Imperial and elder titans, dozens of heavy tanks, and hundreds of infantry models battling across a cityscape, a river and an open plain. Jarrett was flabbergasted, I’ve seen it before. The one thing that floored me was the scratch built Ork gargant made from wood and piping and stood four feet tall. I ran into other dear friends, Bill and Linda Refsland, Jim Williamson, as well as Larry an old SCA friend and house brother. I will be checking back with these old friends very soon, and maybe I will look into going to some events again.
Mike’s zombie attack game was very cool, multiple factions trying to complete their personal agenda’s and trying to escape the city infested with the undead. Both Jarrett and I picked SWAT teams to run, our mission was to search the city and find the governor’s family and escape with our lives.
I ran my troops very defensively as I search the tenement buildings and killed hordes of undead, Jarrett went rogue after a gang banger carjacked the SWAT van to escape.
He spent most of his actions trying to kill the gang and shooting the escaping civilians.
The Van escaped the city, they also completed their mission. I discovered that the governor’s family had all turned,

I escaped to the roof to an helicopter, but it crashed and killed my entire team. We had a great time. I’m now at work, and I'm very tired. It was a great day… more info and pics soon I hope… EDIT: Pics from Mike's BLOG http://goldwyrm.blogspot.com/

Lobster Johnson and his band of American GI’s on the orders of the newly formed BPRD are checking out stories of Nazi forces in the jungles of South America . By special request the force search the jungle for any signs of the new Nazi aggression. Only to find whole town’s slaughtered and South American infantry destroyed to a man. This is a mission to gather data for a larger strike in the future.
(1) Squad of American infantry 6 rifle man, 1 heavy weapons team, and a sergeant and corporal. (2) M-13 Antitank Half Track (3) Lobster Johnson (4) Pablo, jungle guide.
The jungle contains three bunkers connect by under ground tunnels. My son has to have the team investigate all three bunkers and escape the same way he started on the table.

The first turn was having Pablo show them what was left of the last unit searching this part of the jungle. (These dead guys I use as “gory death markers”)

After making a gut check the unit investigates the wreckage and the bodies and sees that they are not only shot but also eaten. Jarrett has his infantry squad split in half to investigate the first bunker (4 green troops lead by the corporal and the Sergeant.) and the “battle bus” with Lobster, the 2 machine gun troopers, driver and Pablo zooms towards the second bunker. Jarrett has his sergeant go it alone to check out the first bunker while the rest of the team sets up an ambush just in case any response comes from the bunker. Just as the Sergeant makes it to the ruins in front of the bunker, machine gun fire hits all around him. Pinned, he returns fire with no effect. The green troopers with the corporal move through the jungle to the left to try to flank the bunker but walk straight into a German four man rifle team, three of the green troops are wounded and the fourth trooper and the corporal return fire but they are also pinned down. While team one was being pinned, the battle bus had made it to the second bunker. Waiting for them was a Nazi carrying a Luftfaust. Pablo caught site of something in the woods, informed the rest of the squad, but Lobster Johnson made his spot check and blasted the Nazi with his man stopper hand gun. The Nazi was wounded and crawled back to the bunker. The driver and the gunner’s were watching the front of the bus and notice some wounded man running towards the vehicle. The driver could tell these were not normal wounded and gunned the battle bus to run these creatures over.
The zombies moved out of the way of the slow moving vehicle, but one zombie was hit and bounce off the front bumper. The battle bus then took a hard left and raced back to bunker one to help the pinned greens. The Luftfaust trooper caught site of the fleeing battle bus and let loose with two rockets that disabled the vehicle just as it was stopping next to the pinned troopers. Back at bunker three, the Nazi scientist releases his latest creation, a flesh Golem.
This monster races toward the sounds of battle. Almost all the action is now at bunker one, just as the battle bus pulls up Pablo with one lucky shot kills the first of the German rifle team. Lobster Johnson, bounds out of the truck to scale a hill and in close combat kills another of the rifle team. Meanwhile the Sergeant has made it to bunker one, just in time to see a squad of undead make it to the hill. He opens fire, but is quickly killed by the zombie horde and joins them.
The heavy weapons team starts to set up the machine gun while Lobster, the remaining greens, and the corporal fight the last of the rifle team and their super soldier leader.
The super soldier is quickly killed by Lobster’s man stopper hand gun, and the rifle team is destroyed. but, the undead hordes and the flesh Golem quickly make it to the scene of the battle, the flesh Golem attacks and wounds Lobster Johnson. The zombies are almost there, and Jarrett decides to take the bug out option.
Jarrett lost two of his squad, one to the zombies, and one to a lucky Luftfaust shot. He lost the scenario. Over all a fun battle was had and it’s now Sunday morning so we have one more good game to play. Now to watch The finale of Doctor Who...

Another week is over at Big registrar of doom, where big business is still giving it to its customers. We also have raise our prices for domains even though were are the most expensive registrar in the world. The email has been crap for the last two weeks, and I can’t get a sale to save my life, but enough of work, it’s the weekend, my son is here and we have great plans ahead of us. First off I have to complete my trade with a TMPer named Josh; I traded some Warzone for Star Wars Plastics, so off to the post office I go, then it’s off to see Iron Man. Then the rest of the day will be spent playing Star Wars and Necromunda. If we have time I want to do some WWW 3 gaming, but we shall see. I have no coffee, so my brain is not working at this time… I will post pictures of the next couple of battles tonight…Cheers.

So this weekend I'm going to move the Weird War to the future with RIFTS RPG. My son has been looking into D&D RPG and wants’ more role playing then war gaming. So I'm going to the middle road with RIFTS. Rifts is a fantastic adventure where the future Earth is almost destroyed by war and the emergence of Dimensional rifts that explode all over the Earth, letting in many fantastic and alien creatures to roam and destroy the Earth. It has power suits VS Dragons, and Mexico is ruled by Vampires, and also I can still use all the great figures I own. I'm thinking of going with a version of my 40K adventure team, rifted in to RIFTS Earth. I will give a blow by blow at the end of the weekend.

Good morning RPGBOMB! So it’s 5AM her in the blight I call Stroudsburg PA, sitting in front of my computer, drinking my coffee and waiting for my son to awaken and demand his war games for this weekend. As I’ve stated before, I’ve been gaming since the 1980’s, I have quite the large stash of figures, vehicles, mechs, and all the things that make up for a good gaming room. My son and I regularly debait on what system to use, what scenario to create, and have a good time with it. But lately I’ve been thinking of getting others to join us in our gaming pursuits. The first place I checked was the local gaming store The Encounter, it’s on Main Street in Stroudsburg. It’s a good little store for the area; it has tons of gaming supplies and comics galore and even has a game room. My thoughts were Fantastic this will be easy to find friends for my son and I to game with! Wrong, it seems most gamers nowadays only do card games; the room was filled with them. No figures, no rpgs, nothing… just tons of black three ring binders books with thousands of cards, and screaming young boys fighting over rules…My son and I brought DOOM the board game with us, plus I had a ton of resin scenery and also extra figures to spice up the game, my friends the game look fun and classy. Only ONE boy showed any interest for the game, ONE! Out of a room of about thirty, if I was one of these boys and saw the setup I created of an abandon Mars colony filled with demonic horrors and the Space Marines fighting for their survival, I would have had an infarction if I could not play. I don’t get card games… Even if I didn’t play games, I would still collect figures and vehicles, they are so cool to build and paint, and in the future you have an investment, what do you have with cards? Lots of books filled with colored paper and nothing more….-Cheers PS: I am NOT promoting this company’s game DUST…. But man check out these MECHS for Weird World War 2!
Well everybody knows I Love zombies (Cough re-agent cough!), I’ve been trying my hand on flash animation, so I thought I would post my attempt, tell me what you think! –Dr. West Go go to the Grave Yard! PS: The band has approved and loves this video!

So my son purchased "Doom" the board game for his birthday, fun game by the way, but the figures were all glossy plastic in red, blue, green, and red... So I painted them. Here they are!
I used MIB as my Doom Marines...

This morning’s battle went very well; the forces for the battle were two American rifle teams, two heavy machine guns, a sniper, and Captain America. The Axis’s force randomly generated their forces at the beginning of every turn. They started with 1 rifle team, 1 heavy machine gun team, and a tank. I used The rules Warhammer Panzer by Phil Yates, with some of my own rules for Captain America. We spent two turns moving up with no conflict, by that time I had three tanks on the road and two infantry squads moving through the rubble. Jarrett’s American airborne then opened up on the infantry scaring the hell out of them, but not killing them. I fired all of my tanks into the building, and missed three times! Two shells even bounced off the building and hit one of my tanks, destroying the main gun. Jarrett used sticky bombs to destroy one of the tanks, and I opened up with my machine and killed 3 of his troopers. Most of the battle, Jarrett used sticky bombs to stun and destroy my tanks, the troops exchanged gun fire with most of the shots going wide. I moved the tanks up to maximum speed, racing to the bridge, but sticky bombs took out another of my tanks. Captain America also chucked some sticky bombs and stunned my last tank. By the end of the finale turn, the Americans had stopped the advance of the axis, and were relived by American forces. The second battle my son ran the Axis forces, and I also stopped his advance. Here are some shots of the battle

This weekend I will be doing another Weird World War 2 battle. The premise is a recreation of the Saving Private Ryan last battle at the bridge. The boys will be running the American GI’s plus a choice of one of the super heroes from the league of freedom, (Captain America, Dr. Who, The Slayer, Indiana Jones, or Lobster Johnson) plus 3 rifle teams, Private Ryan, and the last of the retrieval team (including 2 MSG’s and a Sniper). The Axis powers will have four Tanks, 4 rifle teams, plus an auto cannon team. I will post pics on Sunday and give a report I will be using the rules found at http://www.battlegroundweirdwarii.com/ -Cheers!
He had more bodies on the way and had to make room. He already had the men stacked in two’s and in his drunken mind worried about the propriety of where to put the women. He had two that he kept in the examination room. The one was charred to ruin and had to kept in the body bag, the other had been strangled and wasn’t that worse off for the wear. The men on the other hand had mostly been riddled with bullets, shot in the extremities and just a F-BOMBING mess. He preferred to keep those out of sight where he wouldn’t constantly be reminded of what it was he was dealing with every day for a week. One woman, the gypsy had been shot in the face and he piled her into a drawer with the skinny guy who had also been shot in the face, each zipped in their separate body bags like ration kits.
He flipped off the radio as it was announcing more casualties and figured he had a good half an hour before the medic’s were ringing his bell yet again. He had kept the windows open during the storm to air the place out, but the combined odor of formaldehyde and death, as used as he was to it was not mixing well with the alcohol he stunk of. He’d been in this war for two years and had never smelled it so powerfully; it had never filled his lungs and polluted his breath with the pungency it did now. He needed to sleep because he was dreaming already, imagining the corpses doing a mad Dance Macabre before killing one another all over again. He saw them doing a roundelay with their stiff yellow fingers around each other’s throats. Sure he was dreaming, cadaverous scarface Germans in bloody uniforms, skipping with glee to a merry mournful tune. He dreamed the he was the one playing the devil’s trill to all their amusement. He even had a chorus off hell sent Americans to slap their disembodied knees and sing along. It was hoedown in Hades; come one, come all and come as you are! The party growing so huge the dead was dancing in the streets! And the fiddle player played on, and on and on and on!
He awoke with the shakes, reached for his bottle of rye and someone handed it to him. “Thanks, Josef,” but it wasn’t Josef the medic. It was the woman, the one with the bright red ring around her throat where the very life had been strangled out of her--the woman who had dies of asphyxiation and whose face was pale as a cloud, and whose body was as full and soft and round. He was draining the bottle, looking through the round distorted bottom at the face, lips so red they hurt his eyes to look at them, eyes so black there were no eyes, there were maggots for pupils and the lips smiled teeth yellow as cat urine in the snow. He brought the bottle away from his face, looked at it like maybe he’d snatched the wrong one; maybe he was drinking the goddamned formaldehyde. Then he looked at the woman standing before him. Nope. Before he screamed she had her hands around his throat, squeezing as she brought his lips nearer to her and then he felt the kiss, the Devil’s kiss that began to suck the life out of him. He felt his tongue leaving his mouth, his teeth being pulled and ripped from the gum. The air in his lungs was being inhaled like someone taking a load of helium to make funny voices, but his blood boiled like hot oil and he felt it being siphoned from his lips, pouring from his nostrils, filling his eyes and spilling from his ears. His pickled brain was going dry and the woman was getting tipsy from it. She giggled and hiccuped and his mind never comprehended exactly what had happened. She released the freshly drained corpse from her fingers and it rolled off the desk where it had been lying no more than a shrunken wrapper. She teetered barefoot around the room, giggling maniacally, making her way until her dead eyes began to see and her cold fingers feeling what they touched. She found the door and naked but for the black lace she had been killed in, yet again—she didn’t know how many times she had died in lace, she made it to the street and ran cackling into the moonlit night.
