my 8 yr old wants to play but doesn't have the attention span for much since our stylee of RPG is story based not dice based, our 4 yr old though just wants to be with mom and dad so if we are here she is a constant interuption.  I may try to weasel my way into the hubbys every other tuesday night game and see how that works.  Of course that means finding a sitter for another night

And this is the issue. I am sure the wife stays with the kids while you go to the bachelors right. What would you do if the wife wanted to come along too?? That is where I am stuck. Since the hubby and I are both gamers and work full time both of us ducking out for hours at a time regularly doesn't seem to work very well

Speaking as Dreah's other half, I can say that we are at least fortunate to have a kid-friendly gaming group. over 50% of the group is married with children (None of us are Al Bundy, thank you). The other two guys are a younger bachelor fellow with a steady girlfriend and an 18yr old who's still in High School.

I really think there are some possibilities that we have never really explored, but with the kids getting older they may be viable options now. Like everything involving a family, it will take work and planning, but once you get that out of the way it usually works pretty well.

I've got a 4 and a 3 year old, both boys, so there is only a lessening of the chaos so, yeah, Friday night wargaming is done at the bachelor's pad so to speak. Out of our Cthulu group of mostly 30-something guys, only my brother-in-law is married.

Hence we only play once a month because of him running around with my sisters kids nearly every weekend.

I think thats why the rest of the 30 somethings dont have kids lol. We prefer gaming! 

PS: I am only 27 lol

I am looking forward to my girls getting to that age but they are 8 & 4 now so I can't do that so much right now

My parents used to have 'game night' although it was Rook, dominoes, or somesuch and we kids were exiled to our rooms. We used to have our own game night and either play AD&D or veg out playing Atari 2600 in our respective rooms. I was probably nine or ten at the time. It wasn't a big deal, it was just made clear I wasn't to bother the adults during 'their time' and generally the adults would order pizza for us. It was just clear that we weren't supposed to be our usual insane free wheeling through the house selves.

Well with DDI coming out later this year, D&D will be easier to play online with the new interface and virtual game table.

Open RPG is a nice tool for now, if you can get people to dedicate to a cyber game, Open RPG will allow everyone to play from home.

My only suggestion would be to get an online game going by email, IRC, or any of the other many online gaming tools available on the web.
