“I just try to be positive and have potential,” Johnson said. “I want to be in a position where we actually go out there and we are not just what we expecte.”
‘It’s all about execution at this point. So all the anticipation all the energy, all the enthusiasm feels good at the beginning. Because everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody fans (are saying). Oh, this is our year.’
‘We have to go out here and we have to prove it. And I think it starte from day one, starting with (Saturday). But that’s what’s going to continue from now until the end of the season. Whenever that means the playoffs or not.
The 25-year-old cornerback has played a part in those increased expectations, having covered opposing wide receivers that Johnson showed in the second half of the 2023 season and helped the Bears win five of their last eight games and enter the offseason with a positive attitude.
The Bears also made some impressive offseason upgrades, signing running back DeAndre Swift and trading wide receiver Keenan Allen from the LA Chargers before selecting quarterback Caleb Williams and wide receiver Rome Odunzi with the first and ninth picks in the first round of the draft, respectively.
“All you can do is be excited to be here with guys like that,” Williams added. “We’ve got some great veterans. We’ve get some great young guys like Rome and some other guys. Whether they’re drafted or not. Then we’ve got some players from other teams who have experience and have been in the league.”
